11:30 p.m. Eastern Airlines DC-3 airliner pilot? DuBose saw
a blue circular flame pass the plane, turn, then blink [out?]. (Project

Dan Wilson: January 9, 1948; Near Cartersville, Georgia
At 11:30 p.m. EST, Eastern Airline pilot Hugh Dubose, flying
a DC-3 aircraft at 3000 feet altitude observed a circular object with a
flat top cross his flight path at the same altitude and then turn
earthward. The object was light sky-blue in color and was traveling at
an estimated speed of 400 mph.
Martin Shough: Early reports of blue lights always intrigue me (not so much today with blue LEDs) so I took a look in this file. Note that the Checklist has the time as 2330. but the Record Card gives the time as 2230. Maj. Latham's report to AMC and ADC says "shortly before midnight". And a Summary of Information dated 12 Jan 1948 gives time as "_at_ midnight". The same Summary gives speed as 360mph and altitude as 4000ft.
