Dan Wilson:
Sept. 5, 1949; Near Lebec, California (BB)
At around 12:00 p.m. PST, two Air Force pilots while flying in a private aircraft observed an oval-shaped metallic-looking object approximately 35 feet in diameter while flying in the vicinity of Lebec. The object was approximately 3000 feet below the plane when first sighted. The object rose to approximately 7000 feet in altitude. The rate of climb was terrific. The object then seemed to hover for a time and then it turned in a sharp left bank and headed in a southerly direction climbing gradually. The object appeared to be made of a metallic substance and had a canopy on top. The total time the object was in sight was about 45 seconds.
