Fran
Ridge:
S. E. Adcock was a civilian operating a "ham" radar
set. The witness and equipment are considered
unreliable. The report
synopsis by Bruce Maccabee,
is fairly accurate but based on FBI documents, and shows that the radar
used was able to
track an object at 2,000 feet. But it also states that anything
else came under
serious question and no conclusions could be reached. But when Air
Force documents were found (see documents linked below) the witness was
found intoxicated, and when his height and speed figures were checked
against the actual airliner they were wildly off. |
