Wilson: Aug. 30, 1950; Ernest Harmon AFB, Newfoundland
At 0545Z (1:15 a.m. local time) an object
was picked up on the GCA scope travelling at an estimated 40 to 60
mph at an estimated 4 to 6 thousand feet on a course
of 120 degrees until it reached the 5-mile ring where it
paused for 30 seconds. A blip picked up on a second scope veered
to a heading of approx. 210 degrees then to 140 degrees and disappeared
at approx 9 mile range. There were no aircraft in the GCA area at the
time.
