Classification of Distant
Encounter is usually an incident involving an
object more than 500 feet
from the witness. At night it is classified as
a "nocturnal light" (NL)
and during the day as a "daylight disc" (DD).
The size of the object or
the viewing conditions may render the object
in greater detail but yet
not qualify the sighting as a Close Encounter
which is an object within
500'. |

Rafferty saw a
cylinder with twin tails, 200 ft long and 90 ft wide,
turn N at
incredible speed. (Berliner)

1520 hours (3:20 p.m.) PST. 1st Lt. Buel J.
Hastie and
Mrs. Rafferty while driving in a car sighted an
object at an estimated
2000 foot in altitude hovering near Sacramento. The
object was
approximately 200 feet in diameter, 90 feet
deep, cylindrical in
shape with twin tails attached. The object turned in
a northerly
direction and appeared to move at incredible speed
and disappeared.
Duration of the sighting was approximately 2
minutes.
