Aerial Encounter With Disc

July 9, 1951

Augusta, Georgia

Francis Ridge:
In 1964 NICAP was aware of this incident. It was mentioned in the UFO EVIDENCE in Section III, on page 20: The exact date was not known until later, but the incident was known to have taken place in the summer of 1951 somewhere near Augusta, Georgia. Here we have another instance where Project Blue Book did not list a case as "unknown". The actual Air Force intelligence report is now on file (compliments of Richard Hall).

Richard Hall:
Air Force Lieutenant George H. Kinmon, Jr., a World War II combat veteran, was flying an F-51 out of Lawson AFB, Georgia, at 1340 hours when a white, disc-shaped UFO ("completely round and spinning in a clockwise direction") confronted his aircraft; at one point making a head-on pass at it.
