Oct. 7, 1951; A few miles off coast of Honshu, JapanAt 7:37 p.m. local time Site 6, 621st AC&W Squadron at Nigata Air Base, Japan, established radar contact with an unidentified object at 37 degrees 37' N - 137 degrees 15' E. The heading of the object was 260 degrees. This object was detected by CPS-5 modified by an AN/GPA-7. There were no friendly aircraft in the area at the time of the initial sighting. (Dan Wilson) |
