8:18 p.m. EST. Capt. J. E. Lundy and Copilot Leon Blanks
flying a C-60 airliner for National Airlines observed one object
resembling an aircraft landing light. The object became brighter as it
approached the airliner from the north. The object then performed a
climbing turn away from the aircraft and the appearance changed,
resembling a light emitted by a red flare. The object was reportedly
too fast to be an aircraft of known type.
