RADCAT is a revitalized special project now being conducted jointly by NICAP & Project 1947 with the help and cooperation of the original compiler of RADCAT, Martin Shough, to create a comprehensive listing of radar cases with detailed documentation from all previous catalogues, including UFOCAT and original RADCAT.

Key Radar Case
July 29, 1952
Central Michigan

Fran Ridge:
This report is case #17, on the official clearance list. of 41 formerly classified Air Technical Intelligence UFO reports cleared for Maj. Donald E. Keyhoe by Albert M. Chop, Air Force Press Desk.

July 29, 1952; Port Huron, Michigan
9:40 PM. An Aircraft Control and Warning Station reported an extremely important case: Ground Control Intercept tracked UFO by radar, target speed 550 knots. Chased by F-94s; one got a radar lock-on; bright flashing light seen at the same time, same position. Although numerous incidents involve clearer, closer encounters, this was one that convinced a lot of people simply because of what the UFO apparently did. (See Digesting the Data below) This was item # 17 on the Chop clearance list. Surprisingly, the case is not listed among the Blue Book "unknowns", but there were no less than six "unknowns" on that very day. Two days prior to this was the Selfridge ADC attempted intercept mission.  Less than a week later, the Port Huron case was upgraded to SECRET.

Capt. Edward J. Ruppelt:
......  less than six hours after the ladies and gentlemen of the press said "Thank you" to General Samford for his press conference, and before the UFO's could read the newspapers and find out that they were natural phenomena, one of them came down across the Canadian border into Michigan. The incident that occurred that night was one of those that even the most ardent skeptic would have difficulty explaining. I've heard a lot of them try and I've heard them all fail. (RUFOS, 171)

Dan Wilson:
The GCI radar was carrying both the unidentified target and the F-94 on the scope. (See NARA-PBB85-701 below).
