Wilson: Dec. 18, 1952; Itazuke AFB, Japan 8:28 a.m. local time. Five plots were observed on an AN/MPS-5 radar scope with an average speed 710 knots. The course from initial plot was 270 degrees varying to 312 degrees. The target size was approximately that made by a B-29 type aircraft. Successive tracks indicated an increase of speed ranging from 300 knots on initial pickup to an estimated 1040 knots on the 4th pickup. The length of the observation was 9 minutes. |
