At 1041 local time A2/C Paul E. Reuter and Capt. Morris Royster of the 864th AC&W Squadron picked up an unusual return about the size of a single aircraft moving slowly at about 42,000 feet on a MPS-14 radar. The object was moving at only 20 knots and it left a trail of diffused echoes extending behind and slanting downward. The rate of descent was approximately 300 feet per minute. Total time of observation was 1 hour and 48 minutes. |
