Classification of Distant Encounter is usually
an incident involving an object more than 500
feet from the witness. At night it is
classified as a "nocturnal light" (NL) and
during the day as a "daylight disc" (DD). The
size of the object or the viewing conditions
may render the object in greater detail but
yet not qualify the sighting as a Close
Encounter which is an object within
500'. |
| Dan Wilson: Jan. 22 (4th?), 1965; Baltimore, Maryland (BB) 5:25 p.m. EST. A 10 year-old boy and 4 adults observed an egg-shaped object that went way up in the sky. The object suddenly dove down and disappeared far beyond the observers. [Two different dates are given for this sighting. Form 164 gave January 4th while the letter gave January 22nd] Fran Ridge: The readable and unredacted version of the Blue Book sighting index below (*) lists this case as occurring on the 22nd.
