A Hynek
Classification of Distant Encounter is usually
an incident involving an object more than 500
feet from the witness. At night it is
classified as a "nocturnal light" (NL) and
during the day as a "daylight disc" (DD). The
size of the object or the viewing conditions
may render the object in greater detail but
yet not qualify the sighting as a Close
Encounter which is an object within
500'. |
Brad Sparks: Oct., 1947; Dodgeville, Wisc. (BBU 91) 11 [a.m.?]. Unnamed civilian man saw an undescribed object fly counterclockwise circles. 1-hr. (Berliner) Dan Wilson: Oct., 1947; Dodgeville, Wisc. (BBU 91) 11:00 p.m. local. A civilian observed a "saucer" moving slowly to the south at an altitude of about 2 miles. All at once the object in a sudden burst of speed (faster than a plane) circled from right to left in a huge circle. Observation lasted about one hour. |
