RADCAT is a revitalized special project now being conducted jointly by NICAP & Project 1947 with the help and cooperation of the original compiler of RADCAT, Martin Shough, to create a comprehensive listing of radar cases with detailed documentation from all previous catalogues, including UFOCAT and original RADCAT.

U.S.S. York R/V (IFO: Venus)
Mid-March, 1945
Nr. Admiralty Islands, South Pacific

Fran Ridge:
March (mid) 1945; South Pacific
1:00 PM. Sailors and Marines on the Battleship U.S.S. New York near the Admiralty Islands saw through binoculars and radar detected an object hovering overhead at about 20,000 feet. It was silvery and very shiny. After about 30 minutes the captain ordered gunners to open fire, but shells could not reach the object. After a few more seconds the object climbed out of sight at a fantastic rate of speed and disappeared off of radar. (Ref. 3; MUFON UFO Journal, No. 203, March 1985.) Research shows this was the planet Venus and the radar was unable to pick up the target.
