RADCAT is a revitalized special project now being conducted jointly by NICAP & Project 1947 with the help and cooperation of the original compiler of RADCAT, Martin Shough, to create a comprehensive listing of radar cases with detailed documentation from all previous catalogues, including UFOCAT and original RADCAT.

BOAC Stratocruiser Incident
June 29, 1954
Seven Islands, Quebec

Updated 22 April 2010
Francis Ridge:

The latest update on this case involves the potential of a radar track, which would change drastically the rating, downgraded on 9 Feb, 2010.
Martin Shough has a very comprehensive report on this case which Jean gave me a heads-up on and I have linked the site below. The NICAP UFO Evidence lists this case as taking place on June 30th, which is in error. Originally referred to in the early literature as the BOAC (British Overseas Airways Corporation) case, it was described on page 134 as, "Near Goose Bay, Labrador, Airliner crew saw large UFO with satellite objects. [X]"  My first contact with this incident, I'm sure, was one of Donald Keyhoes' books, but I was unable to locate it. When I DID locate the case summary it was Timothy Good's ABOVE TOP SECRET, and he provided a better version since the original came from the press and there were some errors, including the date. In any case, here is the file. Below is the original press interview from YouTube.

Brad Sparks:
Very simply:  Sunset shadow illumination of a mass migration of birds or of a distant mirage of a cloud might have caused the sighting but each theory has various difficulties.  I prefer the flocking birds, Martin prefers the cloud mirage.  The object was an amorphous, shape-changing blob with six little blobs aligned on the horizon nearby, not a metallic disc.  This is not a good Unknown.

Dan Wilson:
Don Wisgirda of the 922nd AC&W Squadron at Cartwright, Labrador, says that in July 1954, in the early evening, "we heard a commercial  airliner talking to Goose Bay about an unidentified object flying off the port side. We had both of these on our radar. This incident is still mentioned in books as as unexplained UFO sighting." (Dan Wilson)
