RADCAT is a revitalized special project now being conducted jointly by NICAP & Project 1947 with the help and cooperation of the original compiler of RADCAT, Martin Shough, to create a comprehensive listing of radar cases with detailed documentation from all previous catalogues, including UFOCAT and original RADCAT.

Archie 29 KC-97 Radar Case (BBU)
July 5, 1955
Newfoundland, Canada

Fran Ridge:
This is a quote from one of the documents we have that briefly describes what happened:
"Essentially, the 'object' was apparently simultaneously observed by a tanker aircraft (KC 97) pilot (visually) and by a ground radar (type unknown) site (electronically). While such a dual (visual and electronic) sightings of UFOs are reported from time to time, this particular report is some-what unique in that: a. the 'pilot of Archie 29 maintained visual contacts with object calling direction changes of object to (radar) site by radio. Direction changes correlated exactly with those painted on scope by controller.' b. In previous cases the dual (visual and electronic) sightings are mostly of a few minutes duration at most. This one was observed by radar, at least, for 49 minutes." (Source: July 12 1955, Acting Assistant Director for Scientific Intelligence Chief, Physics & Electronics Division, SI, Usual UFOB Report)

Jan Aldrich:
Original FOIA request from Robert Todd indicated that there were more documents about other sightings in the Northeast Air Command area that are missing and probably destroyed. The NSA, when they release their documents, did not release this report. They did mention that the originating agencies in a number of cases were not contacted.  Todd then ran down about a half a dozen of these reports which had not been released.
