PFC Richard L. Walker of Company "C", 723rd Tank Battalion saw a flying object moving from North to South at an estimated speed of thousands of miles per hour at an altitude of over 15,000 feet . During the dates 2 February - 21 February 1956, sightings of unidentified flying objects were made at Camp Irwin, the Armored Combat Training Center. Sightings were visual and in three instances by radar oscilloscope. One object seen on February 9, 1956, by SFC Kenneth D. Marrs and PFC Ricard moved from North to South to a location at grid square 3114. It stayed at this location for one minute. It then moved with a tremendous burst of speed from grid square 3114 to grid square 4502. The object was observed in this position for four minutes. The object was described as oval in shape, brilliant luminosity, and no sound. The sightings were reported to the George Air Force Base Intelligence Officer.
