Object Spinning And Falling Observed By Airline Pilot
May 9, 1958
Bohol Island, Phillippine Islands

Fran Ridge:
May 9, 1958; Bohol Island, Phillippines (BBU 5800)
11:05 a.m. (09/0305Z). Philippine Airlines pilot saw an object with a shiny, metallic surface, falling and spinning. (Berliner, Sparks). The PAL pilot filed a CIRVIS report on the object which was leaving a smoke trail and seemed to be reflecting sun's brightness on a metallic surface. He estimated its altitude at 10,000 feet. Pilot lost sight of it after about 90 seconds when it entered a thick cloud. His report indicated that the CAA was notified in case an aircraft turned up missing. (Powell, Ridge)
