Subject: UFOs reported at Keflavik, Iceland May 4, 1955/KC-97 USAF tanker crashed 90 miles SW off Keflavik Iceland May 4, 1955

The following day two radar stations in Canada went on Red Alert...

May 4, 1955; Keflavik, Iceland. 12:38 p.m. Witnesses: Lt. Col. E.J. Stealy, lst Lt. J.W. Burt. About 10 round, white objects, one of which left a brief smoke trail, flew in an irregular formation, some of them making erratic movements during the 5-8 second sighting.

I have spoken to Lt. Col. Edward J Stealy about the UFO sighting. He was a jet fighter pilot and should be able to recoginze most aircraft. DW

This probably a SAC tanker that crashed off Iceland...
