Form 97-AR
Date: Saturday, 18 March 2006

From: Joan Woodward, Animal Reaction Specialist
Subject: Madison Wisconsin, November 16, 1999

Cat: 4
To: NICAP

Animal Reaction Feature:

At about 6 PM on a clear night, the witness went out to walk the dog.   A large fireball with a trail flew silently overhead going from SE to ENE.  The dog “did not act strange during this event.”

The Sighting:

First thinking a jet plane was going down, the witness listened for a crash.  He thought the fireball was at 4000 feet and its speed was similar to that of a plane on a landing approach.  The time from overhead to disappearance over the tree horizon was estimated to be 45 seconds.

[This spectacular, slow-moving fireball was seen from the Midwest to the East Coast—jw.]
