Animal Reaction Feature:
A deer hunter waiting in a tree stand at 7:30 am on a clear morning noted that birds and squirrels became silent and still.  He looked up and saw a silent cylinder pass directly overhead at an estimated altitude of 1500 feet.  After it moved away, the sounds and motions of the birds and squirrels resumed.

Joan Woodward, Animal Reaction Specialist:
An insurance salesman, 52, a navy pilot in WWII, looked up when the birds and squirrels froze.  A silver, reflective object in the general shape of an airplane fuselage (possibly with a stabilizer fin—witness unsure on this point) passed directly overhead.  No windows, no lights, and no sound were detected.  Its size was estimated to be about the same as a Boeing 747 [~230 feet long—jw], its altitude estimated at 1500 feet, and its speed, at 300 mph.  The cylinder was in view for about a minute.

The witness talked to an air traffic controller at Greenville and was told there was no air traffic in the area at the time of the sighting.

No sound, no EM effects, and no physiological effects were reported.
