Animal Behavior Feature:
A small silent oval object hovered and moved about at ground level for about 5 minutes.  A dog noticed the object and barked at it.  When the object neared the dog, the dog appeared fearful and hid behind a building.

Joan Woodward, Animal Behavior Specialist:
At 10:30 am on a clear, calm day, an 84-year old male retired farmer went to the backyard of his house and saw an object that hovered and moved about at ground level.  It was between 21-100 feet away and moved in floating and bouncing movements in several directions.  He called a 77-year-old female who also watched the object.  The object was observed for about 5 minutes and then suddenly it flew off and out of sight.  The movements were compared to those of a balloon until the rapid departure.  The two witnesses were physically active and in good health.  Neither had prior UFO experience.  Both witnesses were frightened.

The oval object was a dull yellow color and “about size of tire,” or about 1-3 feet, and had some kind of black marking or insignia.  It also had a tail trailing from the base. Witnesses reported bent and mashed grass where object touched down, but the area had been mowed when investigators arrived.

No sound, no EM effects, and no physiological effects were reported.  Comment by T. David Spencer when this case was entered regarding the similarity to a balloon.
