Animal Behavior Feature:
Witness was traveling in an automobile when a hat-shaped object with a flat dome and with lights was sighted.  The object was estimated to be 500 feet or less in altitude and to be, using MUFON distance categories, between 50l feet and 1 mile away.  No sound was detected.  A 6-month old puppy with the witness was indifferent to the object’s presence.

Joan Woodward, Animal Behavior Specialist:
At 5:40 pm the witness, a 64-year old retired man with a BS in education, was a passenger in an automobile in the area of Chain Lake.  He and his neighbor, who was driving, saw an object to their south that was moving slowly to the east.  It disappeared and reappeared as the road jogged, and finally seemed to disappear by blacking out.  The object was estimated as 45 degrees above the horizon. They were traveling through farm/wood lands, and the condition of the sky was not noted.  Duration of the sighting was not noted.

The object was described as hat-shaped with a flat dome.  Lights shown across the “brim” and up over the flat dome.  The lights were steady but their color was not noted.

No sound, no EM effects, and no physiological effects were noted.  The witnesses both reported feeling calm, curious, and elated during and after the event.
