The report of a claimed UFO event witnessed by Ronnie Austin, Phyllis Bruce on 8/4/63 has been evaluated. The current status of the case record is indicated below.

COMMENTS: 

A classic 60's car chasing. I agree with your reasoning that, in light of the "common knowledge" dissemination of the case information, failure to obtain signed statements can be excused in this instance. Your detailing of the account and assessment of the witnesses adds credence to the account. It is noted that the object's shape was not offered. The engine sputtering (at high speed) and apparent radio interference may be significant, but of course there was no means of documenting same. It would be interesting to obtain the USAF instrument's readings of the auto surface. 

A curious aside is your mention of Hynek's wonderment about the case disposition. If he was indeed referencing this case, then not only were some cases routed around Blue Book, but others (such as this) were apparently forwarded by Blue Book officials to unknown parties rather than filed.
