| Joan Woodward was born in 1938 and resides in Fairfax, VA. After
two years of college in the physical sciences, she went to work for the
U.S. Geological Survey where she spent most of the next 36 years working
as a research technician in a variety of research projects in geochemical,
microbiological, and ecological sciences. Woodward also has extensive
experience in ethology, with both wild and domesticated animals. Ethology
translates as animal behavior studies which use observation and experimentation
to understand how an animal acts under natural conditions. She has worked
with certain wild bird populations extensively, and in the process done
considerable observations on other wildlife.
Slightly different, but still involving animal behavior knowledge and
observations, she has shown horses and dogs and has taught training classes
for dogs in obedience, agility, and manners, including dealing with aggression
and other problems. Woodward has been involved with cat rescue and
lives with a number of felines. She is now retired from teaching,
but she and her Jack Russell Terrier are active agility competitors.
She was a volunteer at NICAP during the first half of the 60's, and
returned to the UFO field after retirement, becoming a field investigator
for MUFON and FUFOR. She was one of volunteers who worked on the original
NICAP "UFO EVIDENCE" (1964), under the name of Joan Lusby then, as listed
in the acknowledgement. Since becoming a Field Investigator for MUFON
she has done investigations at the State Director's request. For FUFOR
she has done investigations and prepares their quarterly reports.
Presently Woodward is doing field investigation and research work as
consultant in Animal Reaction cases for the NICAP web site.
