The 1994
UFO Chronology ![]() Ridge Book released
This is a chronology of UFO incidents and events for 1994. Our thanks for these chronologies must go to Richard Hall (the original 1994 chronology from UFOE II), Dan Wilson (archive researcher), and Jean Waskiewicz (online NICAP DBase [NSID]. You will note the many foreign reports that we are now being able to access. Our special thanks to Dan Wilson for getting those to us. As more come in, this page will be updated. Previous chronologies (1947 to 1969) involved the expertise of two other team members; Rebecca Wise (Project Blue Book Archive) and Brad Sparks (Comprehensive Catalog of Project Blue Book Unknowns). Bob Gribble's entries are those filed with the National UFO Reporting Center in Seattle, Washington, now operated by Peter Davenport. Since I was Indiana State Director (MUFON) at that time, our best Indiana cases are listed here. My book, "Regional Encounters: The FC Files", chronicling my 30+ years of research & investigation into midwest sightings, was released in 1994. A few years ago the cover was changed to better reflect the content.. The book is now available to researchers and readers in PDF format (FREE) from the NICAP site or CD-Rom for those who would prefer that format. 8:30 PM. Lucky Point area. Three
witnesses observed a black triangle,
described as 100' on a side for
about ten seconds. Object not within
close encounter range but drawing
suggests that one side appeared to
be shorter. Static reported on car
radio. One of the witnesses only saw
the object for about four seconds.

Luminous UFO maneuvered erratically near B-747 airliner (Volume II, The UFO Evidence, A Thirty-Year Report, Section III). Jan. 28, 1994; Coulommiers,
France
1:14 PM. A huge, dark,
disc-shaped object, reddish-brown in
color, vanished suddenly in the
skies. The UFO was sighted by the
crew of an Air France A320 airliner,
and reported to air traffic control.
Ground military radar tracked the
UFO for 50 seconds at a speed of 100
knots. (Source: Paul
Ferrughelli, Computer Catalogue of
UFO Reports, 1988-1994).
Feb. 1, 1994; Badalucco, Italy
At 8:30 p.m. The witness's
vehicle engine stalled as a silvery
cigar-shaped craft hovered over the
road. The craft then directed
several beams of light towards the
ground. A humanoid figure is also
seen standing on the road near the
vehicle. (Source: Albert S. Rosales,

# 2506, citing Jan Aldrich, Project
1947 website).
Feb. 3, 1994; Lincolnton, NC 6:00 AM. More than an hour before
sunrise, chickens were heard to be
disturbed and rooster[s?] crowed as
a silent, cigar-shaped object with
outward shining lights moved about
the area. The witness
estimated the object's altitude as
200 feet, and as it moved slowly, it
eventually passed directly over the
witness. The homemaker, 31, looked
out her back door and saw an object
hovering 300 feet away. The
object moved slowly toward the
house, and in 7-10 minutes passed
overhead. At some point it turned
sharply right. The witness
phoned the investigator, who she
knew, and she could see the object
at an estimated ˝ mile away as she
spoke with him. Although
aircraft were reported in the area,
[no further explanation], no
acknowledgment between the
unidentified and the aircraft was
noted. The object was described as
cigar-shaped or submarine-shaped
with the front and back
pointed. The lights were
sketched with short tubes of light
of purple, yellow, and green that
shown outwards like “stage lights.”
Pulsating lights were indicated but
not explained. At the rear of
the object was a V-shaped purple
“corner” and two rectangular green
lighted panels. The object’s surface
was dark and its length was
estimated as greater than two car
lengths. The duration of the entire
sighting was indicated to be 43
minutes. (Joan Woodward, Animal
Reaction Specialist)

April 7, 1994; Victoria,
Argentina
9:30 PM. The witnesses
were out in an isolated area
when they spotted a large
white object apparently on
the ground about 200 meters
away. The object suddenly
became brighter illuminating
the nearby trees. A white
line was now visible on the
object, and they now saw 3
small lights moving within
the object. The object grew
in size, resembling a
translucent bubble. Inside
they could see eight to ten
figures standing in a group.
Seconds later a thick white
fog enveloped the area. The
object dimmed and shot
straight up at high speed.
Ground traces were found.

April 8, 1994; Melbourne,
FL
6:10 AM. On an overcast
dawn a saucer-shaped object
rose from the ground of a farm
in Melbourne, Florida, then
temporarily hovered at 30-50
feet before flying off. It had
twelve white lights and six
red lights on it, which had
the appearance of headlights,
except that these soft lights
did not cast beams. There was
one red light between every
white light. The object was
five times larger than a car.
Its distance from the two
witnesses, a man and a woman
in their seventies, was
estimated to be 1200 feet. the
UFO made no sound. (Source:

April 8, 1994; Quiet Dell,
WV
11:40 PM. A silent, dull
metallic saucer-shaped UFO
with diamond-shaped windows
and big red lights crossed
Route 20. Cheryl, the witness,
said her car made a screeching
sound while the engine
faltered, the lights dimmed,
and the car's digital clock
had its setting erased.

<>9:30 PM. In a wooded and
mountainous setting on a clear
night, two witnesses went
outdoors. A woman, 52, owner
of a business and MUFON field
investigator, and her husband, 55,
retired police officer, saw a
dark-surfaced rectangular object
estimated to be larger than a house,
moving very slowly above the tree
tops with a rumbling, engine-like
sound. A bright, unwavering white
light was located at each of two
corners while trees hid the other
two corners. When the object
disappeared from sight, there was a
"sudden flash of white light" and
the rumbling sound ceased. The
elevation of the object was
estimated to be 60 degrees and the
flight path was straight line.
Duration of sighting was 5
minutes. <>A variety of
mostly farm animals were unusually
calm during the time that a
rectangular, rumbling object moved
by at an estimated altitude of 100
feet and about 500 feet away from
the witnesses. The
animals' calmness persisted
afterward. Animals involved
were 5 goats, 4 dogs, 9 geese, 40
chickens, at least 1 cow and a
horse. (Joan Woodward, Animal
Recation Specialist)
April 19, 1994; Nykobing Falster,

shiny belt and helmet that
constantly changed colors. When
one of the villagers attempted
to approach, the humanoid
climbed back into the object.

at the object, which promptly
dimmed and took off, flying back
towards the hills at a high
speed and quickly disappearing
from sight. (Source: Albert S.

July 24 1994 60kms NW of
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
At 4:30 AM local time. Four
women were travelling in one
car, when they saw an oblong,
orange, glowing light, moving
parallel to the vehicle. A few
moments later, they sighted a
large, diamond shaped object,
with writing on its tail; close
to the ground, with an
associated steady "droning'
sound". It disappeared behind
trees. Arriving at their
destination they were frightened
by a shadowy, human figure.
About 75 minutes of "missing
time" was reported. (Source:
Woman's Day magazine, dated
December 26, 1994.) [Note by Keith Basterfield. As
far as I am aware this report
only appeared in this one
magazine and that no
investigation was conducted by
civilian UFO groups].
July 27, 1994; Surrey, British
Columbia, Canada
4:00 AM. A young boy ran into
his mother's bedroom and reported
seeing a large object with blue
lights hovering under the
electrical wires outside his
bedroom window. He also saw
"little people on the poles." He
was told by his mother to go back
to bed and sleep. (Source: Albert
S. Rosales, Humanoid Contact
Database 1994, case # 2754, citing
Graham Conway).
Aug. 10, 1994; York, England
10:45 PM. A box-shaped object
hovered over a satellite dish in a
residential neighborhood, making a
humming sound and causing
interference on local TVs. It
glided off down a road after three
minutes. (Source: UFO Newsclipping
Service, November 1994).
7:50 PM. Shipshewana police officer saw object in the shape of a blimp. No details but supports the events being reported in N. Indiana. (News Clipping Service) Aug. 31, 1994: South Bend, IN 7:30 PM. Nocturnal light observed by multiple witnesses might have been the object seen by others who saw a blimp-like object. Newspaper publicity might have caused some to see and report stars & planets. (News Clipping Service) 8:30 PM Indiana time/9:30 PM Michigan time. Six witnesses saw and photographed a UFO. Primary witness: "Off to the southwest it looked like the moon, glowing through the treetops, and it was low. I said, 'that can't be the moon', 'cause we are in the last phase. (Moon not visible anyway). Then it started moving. Then it moved right out from behind the trees into an open area near a road and hovered toward us. And it was clear as can be. It was a flying saucer, just that vivid. The object glided into our area at a shallow angle, turned toward us and began to hover. Standing still, the white glow turned transparent. It looked like a white strobe light on the top of the dome. A bright red flash of light under the bottom flashed 3 or 4 times like a strobe and it disappeared to the south and east very quickly, within 2 seconds." Before it had gone they got at least four good pictures. One of the individuals who was taking pictures around the campfire that night had a Vivitar fully automatic 35 mm camera, loaded with 400 ASA color film. He was instructed to grab his camera and shoot. He had been out West with a fire crew, fighting fires and had taken pictures out there. The lens was standard, not telephoto. Dogs did not react to close object. (MUFON Indiana files/MUJ-334) Sept., 1994; Connersville, IN 9:30 PM. Exact date not known. Two young boys (age 13) were near a barn and shooting off bottle rockets. "All of a sudden this thing came flying up over the trees to the southwest of us. We thought it was an airplane at first, but it was low and silent and we soon seen it was no plane. I was shocked and it made my spine tingle. We ran to the fence along the road as it went on past us overhead..........going about 40 mph and was in siight about a minute and we could see its shape and its lights. It went out of sight behind the hill NE of us having flew from SE to NE over us." FI Don Worley is convinced the boys were telling the truth. (MUFON Indiana, FI Don Worlley) Sept. 1994; Bt. Greensburg & Napoleon, IN This strange marking, which is about twice as large as most UFO craft diameters, remains a mystery. The physical trace was discovered on September 29th during the afternoon by the landowner who was combining soybeans in the field. The circle was located in the far SE corner of the bean field, near where the east and south corn fields meet, probably 500' or more from the gravel road. Very few tracks were found, mostly tractor and a few other vehicles. No tracks were found inside the circle. The ground was very dry. The circle diameter was approximately 60', almost a perfect circle. All bean plant stalks were layed over to the right, or clockwise. The action had to have happened in the past month in order for the bean pods to be so large and the plants at full height. There were no UFO sight ings reported in the area that might tie in with this event, therefore it must be listed on the computer as a "TC" or "trace case". (MUFON Indiana, SSD/FI Sarn Stoneking & FI Dan Mulford). Sept. 7, 1994; Gulf Breeze, FL
2:30 AM. A UFO was sighted. It
dropped down, zigzagged, and then
shot straight up. (Source: MUFON
UFO Journal, November 1994).
September 9, 1994; Sharkey, IN
2:55 PM. It was a warm and
sunny day with a few cottonball
type clouds floating in the sky.
The witness was on his way to work
and he was driving about 45 miles
per hour going to Bloomington in
an easterly direction on Hwy. 54
about 5 miles east of Bloomfield,
IN. There was no other car
in sight. He had just reached the
top of Blue Barn Hill when he saw
a "jet aircraft'' pass in front of
him with no sound. This craft was
going north to south at about 300
miles per hour and was about 300
feet above the ground. He looked
quickly through the right side of
the windshield and saw that the
"jet" was a disc which was gray
and spinning. As he looked
it made a wide sweeping turn to
the east and was in his sight
about 5 seconds. He then looked
ahead of him and saw another
aircraft pass in front of him at
about the same altitude and speed.
This one made a jet plane roar and
was actually one of those jets
that he had seen so many times. It
also made a wide sweeping turn to
the east. A waitress at a nearby
restaurant stated that she had
heard (possibly) one jet but not
two. (MUFON Indiana, FI Thomas
Vlaskamp)
Sept. 9, 1994: Racoon Lake, IN
10:30 PM. A security guard checking
doors and windos at some homes under
construction. A bright beam of light
struck her car and emanated from a
domed disc. At least three other
witnesses. See report. (MORA #11). 8:30 PM. Green- and red-lighted object with satellite objects observed by 5 witnesses. (MUFON Indiana, FI Norma Croda, Volume II, The UFO Evidence, A Thirty-Year Report, Section I). Sept. 14, 1994; Columbus, OH Sept. 21, 1994; Lasi, Romania

Sept. 22, 1994; Sornay,
Saone-Loire department, France
4:00 AM. A 40-meter long
triangular UFO flew over a
farmhouse in Sornay, Saone-Loire
department, France. The farm's dog
barked furiously, and the UFO shot
away at an incredible speed. The
sighting lasted 3 minutes.

Sept. 29, 1994, Racoon Lake, IN 6:00 PM. The observation involved five people, including the two original witnesses. The primary witnesses were driving south toward Rt.36 out of Hidden Lake Estates and saw an object in the western sky, which was still in daylight. The object was described as a domed-disc tilted at a slight angle and about 15-degrees up from the horizon. They headed west toward home and continued to see the silver object. Mrs. XXX dropped off her husband, then went to a neighbor's house and picked up the neighbor lady. They drove back to Hidden Lakes Estates road and watched with binoculars for 20 minutes. It was a good piece from their homes to this location where they could see without obstructions. The sun was setting and the sky had turned red, but the bright object which looked silver and reflected the suns rays, or was lit up with white light, was still there. She then took the neighbor home and picked up her neighbor's husband. Along with him was his father and the original witnesses husband who had been dropped off earlier. Just as the four got there the object started to move west and out of sight. Object was always several miles away, visible a total of 50 minutes. (MUFON Indiana, FI Norma Croda) Oct. 11, 1994; Custer, SD 7:20 PM. A man came out of his
garage to see why the neighborhood
dogs were barking and saw an object
pass overhead. This witness, 62,
retired, two years of police law in
his background, heard the dogs and
saw the object on a clear
night. As the object passed
overhead, it turned up on its side
and flew south, disappearing over a
mountain range. Independently, a
MUFON Field Investigator, 44, and
her husband, 41, forester, and her
daughter, 20, saw 3 star-like white
lights, strobing in sequence, whose
formation changed from a row to a
triangle and back to a row before
disappearing [possibly corresponding
to the object turning on its side as
described by the above
witness?jw]. They chased the
lights 2-3 miles before losing them
over hills. They
estimated the formation as 600 feet
across, their altitude as 1000 feet,
and their speed at about 100
mph. The lights moved
north to south. The area in
which this occurred was described as
town, woods, and prairie. (Joan
Woodward, Animal Reaction
Specialist)
Oct. 28, 1994; San Luis Valley,
CO
9:30 PM. Two men in a pickup
truck were skywatching for UFOs on
this night near the New
Mexico-Colorado border when a
craft suddenly appeared in front
of them, emerging from a fog. As
it hovered, one of them mentally
called to it to come closer, and
it approached to within 50 feet.
The second man, however, panicked
and "freaked out", shooting his
rifle at the object. The UFO then
went overhead, and as it did it
levitated the pickup truck and
dropped it in a bar ditch.

1994, Late Autumn; Nellis AFB, Nevada Late afternoon. At a remote location in the Nevada desert, a small team of personnel were sitting inside a trailer observing a series of radar displays. Their routine operations were suddenly broken when their attention was directed to a slow-moving object, behaving in a peculiar manner, which had been detected approaching the trailer site from the South-west. The operator turned his camera, and the object came into view; an indistinct blob moving slowly in front of the distant mountain range. Drawing on his experience of working on the range for several years, he thought it was a helicopter, because it was moving very slowly. His female assistant, catching sight of the object on the monitor display, suggested it might be some debris, drifting in the breeze. But it seemed to be moving in a controlled manner, and not just drifting. [See report, video and frame-grabs] (Martin Powell, Fran Ridge) Nov. 4, 1994; Louhans,
Saone-Loire department, France
8:10 PM. An orange
glowing hat-shaped disc was

12:10 AM. A 15 meter in
diameter bowl-shaped object
hovered and then followed a car.
There were over 40 separate
witnesses to the event, but no
news coverage. (Source: Lumieres

Nov. 11, 1994; Owensville, OH 2:00 AM. Multiple witnesses reported a silent triangular configuration of lights that were captured on a home video camera. A dangerous rollover maneuver, putting the "aircraft" upside down at the conclusion of the roll, would seem to preclude this object being a stealth flight over populated areas. 4:30 PM. Witness had just fed her cows and decided to sit outside for awhile because it was such a beautiful day. She was staring at the sky because there were a few big fluffy clouds that looked pink from the setting sun. She noticed a small dark object over the ridge to the southwest. At first she assumed it was a soaring Turkey Vulture, because it was moving so slowly. But then, she realized it had to be much larger than a Turkey Vulture for her to see it at that distance, and it was flying straight, while Turkey Vultures soar in large circular patterns. The object was headed southeast. When it was almost due south of her, it changed direction to northeast and was now heading almost directly toward her. As it got closer, she saw that it was also descending. Even though she knew it wasn't a bird, she still kept waiting for it to flap its wings or hear the noise of a plane engine. When it really got close she could see that it was a dark triangular-shaped object, about the size of a large car. The sun only reflected off a small vertical strip almost in the middle of the object, where there was sort of a small domed portion. When it was almost directly over her barn (about 100 ft. from her) she stood up and had walked about 20 ft. towards the barn when the object vanished. She couldn't believe what she had just seen and she kept looking for the object until her security light came on (about 5 minutes later), so she figured shehad watched it for 15-20 minutes. Later, when she looked at a map she could tell that it had moved a total distance of about 1/2 mile. The whole time she was listening for a plane engine, but it never made nnv noise. 3:30 AM. Guards at a factory
described a close encounter with a
UFO. It had two very brilliant
spotlights, changing colors from
yellow to green to red. It passed
through the area making a noise
like a locomotive engine. There
was large scale tree damage, over
an area of 160 square meters of
forest, having cut through some
trees that were three meters tall,
yet leaving some trees that were
interspersed untouched. One worker
was reportedly thrown several
meters through the air during the
close encounter. (Sources: Paul

Dec. 11, 1994; Tiete, Sao Paolo
State, Brazil
11:00 PM. Two observers watched a
luminous greenish sphere land nearby
them. Two humanoid figures appeared
next to the object. They were
described as 1.20 meters tall, with
very pale skin and four-fingered
hands, large staring eyes, and two
small holes for a nose. One of the
witnesses directed a flashlight at
the figures, and a beam of light
from the object immediately disabled
it. The beings and the object then
left. Crushed grass was found at the
scene. (Source: Albert S. Rosales,
