Ridge: June 10-11, 1953; Goose Bay AFB, Labrador, Canada (BBU) 11:34 p.m.-2 a.m. (AST). GCA radar tracking of 25 separate unidentified objects near base traveling about 30-100 knots (35-115 mph) in no specific pattern. [Anomalous propagation?] (McDonald list) The Project Record Card states: "Birds. No correlation established between GCA and GCI on any blip. No a/c were scrambled. Concluded the object were weather phenomena or flight of birds. Birds more likely because of size of blip and range and speed indicated." In the brief summary section it states: "Approximately 25 single blips sighting by GCA Radar in the vicinity of Goose AFB during period of 0345Z-0600Z, 11 June 1953 flying various readings in all grad of search scope.
