Jan Aldrich: Capt Keopke is the aircraft captain....but was off the flight deck...the memo doesn't make that clear, the witnesses are Nash and Fortenberry...that is what I think this memo was ment to convey....but it was probably dispatched in haste....we were able to ask Nash about confirmation....He did think the Navy did confirm it, but it's not in the file. The Navy commander who saw UFOs from the ground wrote to the local newspaper at Newport News. He did NOT see the manuevers that Nash saw.... Quote - Eight unidentified luminous circular objects flying in formation, vicinity Langley AFB VA sighted by Captain Frank Koepko, Pilot Pan American Airways while on New York - San Juan flight. Objects sighted 14 July 52, at approximately 2100 hrs. Witness by W B Nash, co-pilot and Bill Prontenberry [sic; Fortenberry] engineer. Crew members stated circular objects turned to avoid collision with airliner. Estimated speed - thousand miles per hour. Crew members being interviewed by OSI at Miami, Fla.
