Rouen RAF Flying Review Photo Hoax
Rouen, France

1957

Francis Ridge:
The 1964 NICAP UFO Evidence lists this as photographic case #24. This is what the report had to say: "In conjunction with an article 'Something in the Sky,' RAF Flying Review (July 1957) published a UFO photograph which was taken over Rouen, France. No camera or film data were given. The highly-respected aviation magazine termed it 'one of the few [photographs] which seem authentic.' The UFO resembles a disc viewed edge-on, and has a small projection on top. It closely resembles the May 11, 1950 Trent photographs. (#7)."

Thanks to our perseverence and the help of Clas Svahn, we now have a copy of the actual article and have established the reported year as 1957 for the photo, since it states "over Rouen in March this year." However, the photo in the article appears to be more like the Trent photo than ever and this creates even more problems. It is now certain that the clean, sharp, detailed version we have become accustomed to for the Rouen photo, is a doctored version of the Trent image. The question now becomes, who doctored it up and why? For the complete findings and comments by researchers, see the link below.
