9:10 p.m. T/Sgt. Mahone and A/3c Jennings saw an amber-colored,
elliptical-shaped object with a small flame at the rear, periodically
increasing in brightness, move very fast giving off a resonant beat

At 2210 EST, T/Sgt Thurman C. Mahone and A/3c Gene A.
Jennings, observed an elliptical-shaped object that was larger in
front, 30 degrees above the horizon. There was a pin-point flame
at the rear of the object and about every 3 seconds a burst of flame
came out the rear. The object flew directly overhead and disappeared in
one and a half minutes. The speed of the object was estimated at 900
MPH.
A/3c Gene A. Jennings stated that while he was on duty
as Corporal of the Guard, Sgt. Mahone received a call from the local
GCI station in reference to the presence of several "mysterious"
unidentified aircraft in the area.
