Both the archives of the National UFO Reporting Center and the files of MUFON were checked for any reported UFO activity during the month of July and the states of Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky.

July 1984; St. Phillips, Indiana
Highly paranormal activity and reported abduction during the first part of the month of July. Witness later reported this incident while in prison and again when out on work release, after drug-related incarceration. Reported his ex-wife would back him up. Case never investigated. (Ridge files)

July 5, 1984; Cape Girardeau, Missouri
9:38 PM. A disc with an orange halo hovered over a park in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at an estimated altitude of 1,000 feet. It winked out after fifteen seconds. (Source: APRO Bulletin, February 1985, p. 8).

July 8, 1984; Irvington, Kentucky
11:00 p.m. Cylinder sev mins. I called the county Sheriff office and was told that there had been several reports of the object. also in neighboring Meade County several people at the county fair also saw the object.(NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that the date of the sighting is approximate. PD)

July 18, 1984; Knightstown, Indiana
1:30 a.m. Witness was driving home from a second shift job in Rush County and drove through Knightstown on state road 40.  He was halfway between Knightstown and Dunreith, in Henry County, driving east.  It was a clear, warm starry night and as he looked off to the NE there was a huge black 'hole' in the sky in a triangular shape, probably a quarter mile ahead of him. He sped up and rolled his window down to get a better look until he was almost partly underneath a third of it. It made absolutely no sound and as he slowed to about 5 mph, he realized how huge this thing was.  Size estimated at least 2 football fields, side by side. It seemed to be rotating very slowly but was stationary. I saw very faint colored lights on the tips. I couldn't make out any 'structure'or 'protrusions' on it, just blackness. I didn't feel threatened by it, but the size of it overwhelmed me and I drove off quickly for about another 1/4 mile and and again slowed down. As I looked back, it was still just sitting there, hovering. I reported it the the H.C.sheriffs office, they took my name, phone# and was told they would check it out.I never heard back from them.I always rode home with a co-worker after that, I never witnessed it again. 10 mins (NUFORC Note: Date and time are approximate).

MADAR Event #19
July 23, 1984,  4:19 a.m.  A 1-pulse (phantom pulse) disturbance with no duration.

July 25, 1984; Terre Haute, Indiana
4:00 a.m. A glowing arrowhead-shape craft with glowing white trail was observed for 1 hour. The witness was having trouble sleeping and then noticed the cat wasn't in the house, and fearing the roaming dogs, went ouside to look for it. In the SW sky was was a thick bright white trail, solid without separation waves, that a jet might leave.  Witness was dumbstruck, startled to see an arrow head shaped object, glowing a brilliant white as with an enormous amount of heat, at the head of the trail. It was moving slowly, as if encountering a force. It went on beyond the witness's sight. The trail was still intact and visible when he finally went inside. "It was huge, even from the distance. I'm sure it was as high as the commercial jet planes that fly over our house.  Thee object was not chevron shape nor (a) triangle so I said other because it looked exactely like an arrow head, with the notch in bottom center." 1 hr. (NUFORC Note: Date is approximate. PD)

Although this report was created to study the possibility of UFO incidents and MADAR detections in the midwest, some effort was made to see if there might have been any national or world correlations of note. Again, nothing suspicious was found.
