May 16 I use to discourage more than one MADAR site in a town, but I have seen some benefits. Of course the bigger the city the more it seems beneficial to have multiple sites, especially if the nodes are at least 10-15 miles apart. A great example of successful dual nodes is 57 and 222. The Reef Station DHS flight UAP on September 17, 2024, which involved sophisticated radar was backed up by Santa Barbara's node 57 over a hundred miles away! Santa Barbara node 222 was offline at the time. Before, on the pop-up, if someone didn't know your node number, it was hard to tell which was which. Now we place the operator's initials along with the city. When you click on it again, the other site will show another set of initials. Sites are down at times for various reasons, usually briefly. Having an extra site in a city insures at least one site is always running. Fran Ridge MADAR Operations Director skyking42@gmx.com madar.site/ |
