OTHER DEFINITIONS

ACCELEROMETER
An electro-mechanical device used to measure acceleration forces. Such forces may be static, like the continuous force of gravity or, as is the case with many mobile devices, dynamic to sense movement or vibrations. Acceleration is the measurement of the change in velocity, or speed divided by time. The DataProbe has this sensor onboard and the value and the normal reading in most cases is 1.0.

ADT
Auxiliary Data Tasking. Replaced the "home-made" Mode Control Panel of MADARs 1 & 2. One version in some use is the Adafruit power panel. Probably obsolete due to the new pending MAVERIC system.

ADAFRUIT RELAY MODULE
Controllable four outlet powered relay module.

AV PANEL
Audio/Video (distribution) Panel. Amplified switchboard-type panel

CUT/UTC
This conversion chart converts Coordinated Universal Time and Universal Time Code to local time. Most scientific instruments and programs use this 24-hour world time system.

DATALOGGER PRO
Software for GMC 300E Geiger Counter that provides video graphics of the last minute of radiation readings.

DATA RECORDER SYSTEM
Ability to record data upon the triggering of an ADT panel or Adafruit Digital Logger.

DAS
Delayed Alarm System or DAS. A USB-powered speaker from Amazon activated by our software upon alert.

FARADAY RINGS
Scientifically interesting and potentially valuable observational evidence obtained with the use of Polaroid lenses (glasses) during UAP sightings.

FLIGHT RADAR 24
Various levels of participation in computerized aircraft flight monitoring and flight-loop playback. Gold version has no 5-min delay or commercials or timeout.

FULL DATA BLOCK
A rectangular graphic brought up on the MADAR Display Map by a left-click on the node registration dot, that is loosely referred to as the "pop-up"with computerized data for a MADAR Node. Also used to tag an aircraft on radar, giving flight ID, altitude and speed.

GMC SERIES
Series of geiger counters, notably models 300 and 500, the basic version being the $80 , 300-E.

I-BOARD
The sensor board designed for the project by Matrix Circuits, LLC. This sensor board includes a magnetometer, a barometer, and an accelerometer.

LSDS
Legal Shutdown Switch. A very small blue switch recessed into the top of the MADAR enclosure, placed there to prevent corruption of the hard drive during forced shut down which may occur if the device is writing data to the SD card at the time. A pin (or paper clip) inserted for less than 5 seconds will reboot. Over 5 seconds will shut the unit down so the unit can be disconnected and moved.

MADAR DISPLAY
Blue background display with light blue MADAR nodes located at madar.site

MADAR-III DATAPROBE
The latest miniaturized and affordable innovation available to the public to provide data to the server. The B model has the new I-(sensor) board with an improved triple-axis magnetometer designed by the MADAR software/hardware team. It includes an extremely valuable relay switch to activate other equipment. (See DAS). All nodes are now this model.

MADAR DEV SERVER
Development/Test Server

MADAR NODES
The basic MADAR DataProbe ID assigned by the MADAR technician and illustrated by the light blue registration dots on the MADAR Display, all programmed to the device's exact latitude and longitude.

MADAR/VISUAL
UAP reported or observed at the time and near the location of a MADAR anomaly.

MADAR RANGE
Device has no range but is dependent on the UAP power output and size. Often misunderstood term to describe minimum distance of UAP to MADAR DataProbe. UAP output value (whether accidental or purposeful; omnidirectional or directed) is unknown but proven by the evidence in at least 150 cases.

MADAR WORK/PRODUCTION SERVER
Primary server dedicated to operation of the MADAR system and website.

MAGNET VARIOMETER
A sensor used by MADAR-II with compass and photoelectric cell system. Current MADAR-III system uses a camera to monitor the sensor (no photoelectric cell needed).

MAVERIC SYSTEM
MAVERIC stands for MADAR Audio/Video Environment Integrated System. Arduinos connected to the USB ports of dedicated computers and tied to the MADAR relay so that various digital video data, along with appropriate audios, can be recorded without the need for an operator. Devised by tech support Paul Browning before he passed away. Was never completed.

MERGE POINT NODES
Merge Point Nodes  are nodes so close together on the MADAR Display that they are inseparable without pumping up the image (+).

MOC
MADAR Operated Camera. A wifi (wireless) operated sky camera(s) running 24/7 with a manual or automatic, audio/video recorder to record video images of a specific sector of the sky. (See MAVERIC).

MSV
Multi-Sensor Verification. Since MADAR detects an anomaly with it's magnetometer, MSV requires the anomaly be verified by an additional sensor, which in the case of the present configuration would be the onboard electronic compass. MSV requires there be at least a 3 degree variation in the heading, plus or minus.

MTL
Moving Target Loop. Method similar to FR24 playback loop to track UAP movement.

NOL REPORT
Daily server query that shows nodes "Not On Line" and sends notifications to MADAR Operations Center as well as to each node Op who has a node that is not running for any reason. Node must be offline for 24 hours for this to happen and works in reverse when unit is back up.

OPERATION IN REGION
A documented Operation In Region is an incident of an unambiguous UAP representative of the UFO phenomena, reported within a region where a valid anomaly is detected by a MADAR device. The time and locations (although not in the MADAR/Visual range) could be indicative of a multiple UAP operation in progress.

PFV
Peak Field Value - A software procedure used to keep the shield or threshold a certain amount above the highest level detected within 7 days.

PHANTOM PULSE
Term used to describe the alert initiating primary pulse from the early MADAR (1) era that couldn't be recorded since it triggered the data recorder system.

PLAYBACK LOOP
A plan to utilize archived data to regenerate a map of nodes going "red" during a local sighting concentration or flap. This is a pending doable plan already in use by Flight Radar 24.

POP-UP
A pop-up with MADAR is a graphic on the MADAR Map representing the last minute graphic displayed by a left click on the light blue registration dots on the MADAR Display.

PRIMARY TARGET
A primary target is a radar return, or "blip", on a radar display that contains no additional information. On FR24 and ADS-B you have a full data block showing flight number, flight level, speed, etc.

PSOI
Potential Sightings of Interest. A sighting of an object representative of the UAP phenomena that is considered of scientific interest, preferably in close proximity in time and location to a MADAR anomaly.

POWER CENTER
An example is the Power Center which can be used to turn on or off multiple devices. Especially helpful when several devices are normally off and plugged into a mode control panel or Adafruit panel.

QUAD
The split screen display system to monitor & record multiple camera imaging outputs for MADAR-II.

REBOOT
The process of unplugging the power adapter from the wall outlet for 10-15 secs and re plugging. See also LSDS for safer method.

RECAL
The recal one periodically use to see in the spreadsheet was an internal recalibration (was every 10 min...then 30) which adjusted the magnetometer for current temperature and pressure. This procedure was abandoned after many good sightings had recals that fouled up the spreadsheet data.

RELAY SWITCH
In reference to MADAR the DataProbe has a set of "dry", "normally off",  contacts (green protrusion) on top of the I-board's top-mounted relay. This relay when closed turns on the blue LED. Leads from these contacts can be run long distances to turn on a simple alarm, an ADT Panel, or the MAVERIC System for numerous pieces of data-gathering equipment.

SCANNER
An aircraft or police radio scanning monitor used to monitor local transmissions.

SCRAM
Specific Column Readings And Measurement. Potential correlations dealing with data on the spreadsheet with dataprobe under-trigger.

SMS
MADAR text alerts sent to the Op and known as SMS for, short message service

SST
State Sighting Tool. An online form which requests data from the server which gives the respective nodes which had any alertStarts in a certain state during a specific date in CUT.

SKYCAMS
A system of live cameras whose action can capture videos of specific sky sectors, along with audio during a MADAR event, either manually or automatically (see MAVERIC).

TERS
Total Event Recording System. Centrally-located mic and recorder to capture all voice and sounds.

THRESHOLD
Each MADAR has a specific value that is set originally upon fabrication but adjusted according to local E-M. Most nodes have the same value, or close to that number. When the magnetometer reading reaches that number or exceeds it the MADAR is triggered. The green relay is closed and the blue LED is activated, thus a "code blue".

UNDER-TRIGGER
A field reading less than the threshold is called an  under trigger. which would not result in a rampup of data associated with an alert mode or alarm or blue LED to one line per second. A normal or "status" line under these conditions is recorded at the one-line-per-minute rate but includes other data such as compass heading, barometric pressure, all documented with UTC time-codes

UNCORRELATED TARGET
A MADAR "hit" with no corresponding UAP report to verify a correlation.
