INFORMATION SERIES |
Early in the Project we adopted a specific geiger counter system to be used along with MADAR. The GMC series (300,500 etc) was adoped by Level-II ops to monitor and upload readings to the GQ-Electronics website. Soon after that additional counters were suggested to be used by Level-II sites, rapid deployment teams, and SKYWATCH crews. The GMC-300 was acceptable for base use but for a few dollars more the team could have the GMC-500 which also served as a dosimeter, storing data during a sighting or SKYWATCH. The GMC-300E More recently our tech support specialists have devised a way to add the base unit direclly to the MADAR USB port and upload live readings in cpm (counters per minute) to the server, providing background radiation data along with magnetometer, compass and gyro readings 24/7. We are in the process of testing the software, so please bear with us. The GMC-500 (or equivalent) that an Op already owns will just be plugged into the MADAR and will be ready to roll within minutes. We still recommend a second GMC-500 to be in the site's PLL for rapid deployment during a MADAR event and for SKYWATCH operations. In regard to SKYWATCH, please be advised that a MADAR site within 30 miles that is running at Level-II will back up the SKYWATCH team both with E-M readings from the MADAR site's magnetometer and compass, and GMC-500.
