Back in the day if someone had a close encounter with a classic domed disc, it was a recognized part of the phenomena. There were distant encounters (day and night) and there were close encounters (day and night). Of course the witness credibility was an important factor. And an object 500' wide could actually be farther than the CE range for a 30' disc or 6' egg or sphere. In today's world there are still close encounters but they are CE's by definition. An object within 500', close enough to give stereoscopic vision a chance to verify the range, but objects not so well defined. Not many saturn shapes these days. So when you get one of these rare occurrences it makes one sit up and take notice.
October 26, 2018; Akron, Ohio - MADAR Team identifies target
If you would get two of these type reports over an area about 200 miles apart, or one of them a radar case at that distance, but of another uncorrelated target nearer the radar and nowhere near the UAP, that would also be a potential correlation. Even if the events were three hours apart. An operation.
The now-famous incident in the Pacific in 2004 involved UAP that dogged the U.S. Princeton for two weeks!!! The carrier fleet had sightings and FA-18 Hornets gave chase in an area 60-80 ststute miles wide! This was some sort of UFO operation. Visual sightings, radar trackings by ship and aircraft.
Nov. 14, 2004; 100 mi out in Pacific from San Diego
How does MADAR fit in here? Having said all this, it must be made clear that once the MADAR "sensor" is isolated from all other natural or man-made E-M sources, the very small reading one is left with is simply the Earth's own magnetic field. What we are then looking for is something distorting that field. Since the Earth's magnetic field doesn't vary more than 5 per cent from its static average, the "background" is perfect. The classic magnet variometer is a mechanical sensor...besides tending to be simple in construction and operation, mechanical sensors offer a bonus that helps improve the signal-to-noise ratio. They tend to be unresponsive to high frequency fields, which is good; we are only interested in slow changes in the steady field. The resolution is typically 0.1 gamma. But MADAR-III is not a mechanical compass. It uses a very sensitive magnetometer, and now that sensor has become even more sensitive. And the data includes plotting of compass variations. When MADAR is triggered it is the result of one or two things: 1) a manmade disturbance that can be ruled out by careful positioning and planning, or 2) an anomaly, of the kind found in over 150 other compass-needle cases.
As scientists our primary goal is detecting a true anomaly and being alerted and being able to have a visual sighting of a bonified UAP by either the op or someone in the area. Be advised that this has not occurred as yet. But we believe it will, and if what has happened already is any indication of what is to come, we will at least be ready to gather more data with handheld equipment.
The military view of these circumstances, however, would be to take the best data a face value. And even they would try to figure out what bonified UAP are doing and why.
After two years of R&D for the MADAR-III and intense testing for 15 months, the DataProbe and system went operational in May of 2018. Within six months we had a number of interesting events take place. One seemed to be very compelling and occurred in Pennsylvania, and another was a positive ID on an IFO over Ohio. But the very first month started out with a bang.

22:30. Witness opened the front door and had just taken a step outside when he saw the object. It had immediately caught his eye as it was at eye level and very very bright. He called for his mother to see it as she had talked about seeing something similar before but in a different direction. They both stood in front of the door and could clearly see the object in the sky. It then began to pulsate, its brightness growing for a few seconds before fading. It did this the entire time they watched it. Thinking he could see a clearer image of it, he came back inside and grabbed their binoculars before returning to their front porch. Every time he thought he had gotten a good focus the object would move out of sight. It would go behind the trees and then reappear when he looked at it without binoculars. This happened for about 6 minutes off and on before, when the last time, he got focused on the object. When he did, it completely disappeared behind the tree and he could no longer see it and both witnesses went back inside. He then looked out the kitchen window and it had come back only for a few seconds. (MUFON)

23:22. (Originally filed as 9:58 PM) A maneuvering white point of light was seen by witness going from S/SW to N/NE beginning at 11:21:58 pm and lasting 3 minutes with astronomical twilight occurring at 10:59 PM PDT. It appeared somewhat similar to a satellite after twilight except for the maneuvering and intermittent loss of lighting. Satellites should still be visible this soon after twilight but the maneuvering right and left and the intermittent appearance and disappearance would be unusual unless the satellite is capable of maneuvering and changing its configuration. "We observed an object at high altitude procede from south to north +/- traveling at a speed similar to observed satelites this object appeared to vary its course from left to right and back. It also went out and came back on as it traveled northward. There were no other lights on the object. Thought it was a satellite at first except that it appeared to vary its course left and right and would "go out" and come back on later on its generally northward trajectory. It went out at about a 35 degree azimuth to the north and did not reappear. It originally appeared at about a 20 degree azimuth to the south. It did not exhibit normal aircraft lighting characteristics." Case 91974 - Sphere - AN1 - Cat 1 - 5.11.2018 - 11:22 p.m. - Marysville Wa. - Snohomish County - Report Date 5.13.2018 - Event Date 5.11.2018 (MUFON)
Note: Marysville, Washington is 18 miles from Mountlake Terrace, the location of MADAR Node 100, and the original report indicated the events occurred within one minute of each other. However, subsequent MUFON investigation called for a revision of the sighting time to 23:22, or one hour and 21 minutes later. In spite of this as yet unexplained error it is believed by both MADAR and MUFON personnel that the sighting at Marysville is unexplained and involved an object exhibiting anomalistic motion, indicating something very unusual and unexplained occurred over an 18 mile area)

11:06 Witness was watching a bird fly overhead and noticed a shiny, cylinder-shaped object with a darker ring in the center flying overhead as well. It was reportedly very high up in the air, yet seemed as large as a commercial sized plane. It was also going across the sky at a fairly fast rate of speed. It produced no sound and had no visible wings. Where he assumed the wings should be, there was a dark ring around the object. He did get 20 seconds of video as he stood there trying to figure out what he was watching before realizing that he needed to get his phone out to record. (NUFORC)

The next event was very compelling in quality but weak in potential correlation due to distance protocols. This is the type of close encounter we had seen in the earlier years and is now a rare occurrence. It is our opinion that when bonified UAP are being observed that something important is probably going on, and could involve some type of operation and more than one craft. Put another way, if two declared unknowns occurred over the same distance (200 mi) at about the same time, or even a three hour period, it wouldn't meet our goal, but it sure could indicate something of importance was occurring.

02:40. Witness was leaving her boyfriend's house late at night to go home and saw a giant object/vehicle on the road taking it all up. She had thought at first that maybe it was some late night street cleaning or construction vehicle. When she got closer she then thought maybe it was a tank and got scared wondering, why a tank was in her city. Then getting even closer she recognized the ufo type shape, and it didn't’t have any visible wheels. It was motionless the whole time she was driving towards it. When she finally got close enough to make it out to be a ufo she freaked out and had a panic attack. was coming from up a hill and it was in the middle of the road, again, it was huge. Taking up what seemed like three lanes. It was gray and dull metal, not shiny. She didn’t see any windows on it from the angle she was observing from. As soon as she made out what it was she freaked out, quickly leaving the area and turning away from the ufo. ("I couldn't’t have drove past it anyway as it was blocking the whole street.") She called her boyfriend several times, body shaking and driving reckless and when she finally got ahold of him she was crying and frantically trying to explain what she had just seen. She was too scared to continue going home so she ended up just going back to his house and continuing explaining what she saw and then took him to the spot within 5 minutes of leaving and it was completely gone, the giant thing just disappeared. When she observed the object there was no one anywhere else in sight. (C.M.S. Case number - 93046) [Note the characteristic CE time in "wee hours". Witness filed online report but never responded to investigators for an onsite investigation or filled out any questionnaire. Listed as Insufficient Data but I feel that the witness was afraid to do anything further and should still be contacted if at all possible. - Fran Ridge]

23:00. Witness noticed two starlike objects moving SW to NE overhead in staggered formation, then turn and align in tandem formation after shooting what appeared to be a missile. No flashing lights. Appeared similar to satellites / stars. Initially very bright then quickly dimmed. Missile object looked almost like a meteor and was orange in color with a short trail lasting only a few seconds. Objects did not flash or appear to have any lights like aircraft. Moving at a rate of speed similar to satellites and of the same light intensity and size.(MUFON CMS)

10:05 AM. For two days, witnesses had seen multiple objects in the sky. They appeared like stars, but clearly moved and pulsated. They reported 4 objects last night (5th). It was as if they were in a grid spreading out for many miles over the sky, zigzagging in various directions but always returning to a fixed spot. Four of the witnesses saw the same thing. They reported over ten airplanes flying at various heights during this event and even saw space debris or satellites that went close by where these objects were. (MUFON CMS)

13:05 (approx). Witness saw, what appeared to be a helicopter, free-fall to hover over the trees about a quarter mile from his building less than 1000 feet up. It moved side to side as if troubled with control. He thought it was going to crash, then it turned sideways and the sun shone off it brightly. It was not a helicopter and seemed maybe bullet shaped, of bright chrome. It continued to attempt control then steadied itself for a few seconds before flying straight up above the clouds. He could still see it through a hole in the clouds and watched until it shot off to his right, traveling fast enough that he only observed it again because the sun struck the chrome once more, before it was out of view. 5 mins. 19:00. Witness reported a massive, dark (black or dark gray), triangular object passing high over the treeline and below the clouds. It was the shape of an isosceles triangle, much wider in the rear, and the two rear corners had intermittently flashing lights. He was unsure of the color of the lights or even if they were colored. This huge object was moving south and there was no sound at first, but he then heard helicopter type sounds but no helicopters were visible. 1 min (NUFORC)

04:15. Witness was in his front yard. Directly across the street he saw a dark triangular object illuminated by moonlight and streetlight, gliding in the air just behind and as high as the streetlight which would be about 30-40 feet high. It was shaped like a giant moth. It was about 3 feet in diameter and maintained a constant speed of about 20 mph. He could see the silhouette of it silently gliding in a straight path heading SW for about 1000 yards before losing sight of it, and it did not flap any wings. He has searched the internet for night flying insects or birds that may have fit the description of this thing, but there were none that size. "It was a spooky thing to witness." A documented time-stamped MADAR anomaly and an object representative of anomalistic nature, with animal reactions. Reelsville, IN is an hour ahead of Norris City, IL and 160 miles to the NNE. The sighting of an unidentified craft at Reelsville occurred approximately 44 minutes after the anomaly at Norris City, Illinois, indicative of a possible UAP operation involving more than one craft, or the same craft.

Corrected to 21:00 (9:00 PM) Witness noticed Venus, following the sunset and Saturn, in the SSW, were very bright as he arrived home. As usual his neighbor's dog, a large but very friendly, female, Pit Bull mix, was there to greet him. After watching Venus for a moment he saw, a few degrees off, what looked like a huge band of lights - white surrounded by red - began flashing and moving in his direction. As soon as the flashing began the dog seemed frightened. Whining, repeatedly bumping his legs and jumping up to push on his chest. When the object was almost directly overhead the lights changed to all white and flashing sequentially from rear to front. At that point a soft gold color glow defined the edges, giving him the shape he tried to illustrate. The object silently continued east until lost behind a stand of trees. As soon as the object was out of sight the dog made a short huffing sound, looked at him for a moment, then, seeing no reaction, calmly went home. He noticed something else. He has raccoons in his attic space. They are usually active from dusk til dawn. At that time it was strangely quiet up there - an hour after the event. (MUFON CMS)

20:45 Witness went out to his back yard to look for his cat. He had received a pair of night vision goggles for Christmas for sky watching, so he brought them with him to help look for it. It was a clear beautiful night, so the witness started looking at the stars. After 3 or 4 minutes witness saw what was thought to be a satellite traveling west to east, but quickly realized it was too big, too bright, traveling too slow and it was flying way too low to be a satellite. Witness watched it as it traveled straight overhead. When the goggles were pulled away witness could no longer see it with the naked eye. It started to get a little bit brighter and then faded away and just disappeared. As it was fading away it became transparent before disappearing. (NUFORC Note: The object was not the ISS, which was visible from the witness's location at 8:47 p.m. (local), but which was visible in the extreme northern sky. Also, not an Iridium "flare." PD))

Approximately 2:00 PM. When witness first noticed the object it was over I-77, south bound, slowly heading from E - W about a quarter mile from the exit. While driving home from an eye appointment, object first seen it was not a plane, blimp or helicopter and observer felt a little anxiety / excited. Thought it had disappeared until he/she got to next exit where it was behind the trees. When observer stopped at light was able to take four pictures using an iPhone 7plus. From the freeway the object was approximately at 3 o’clock high. "When I saw the object from the exit ramp it was approximately at 2 o’clock high behind the trees. There were no lights or sound, the color was dull gray. Moving very slow and low. When the light changed I turned left on to the I- 77 overpass then right on to Mull Ave.As I passed where the trees and object were I could not see it anymore, it’s like it just disappeared. I had a clear view once I passed the trees. I should of been able to see it behind or over the trees. There are no airfields in the area. I checked the Goodyear blimp schedule for Oct 26th, there were no blimps flying that day." Temp was 28 degrees, overcast light rain, wind slightly from the North West. The goal for MATCH has not been met based on the data we have collected so far, but the MADAR Project Team and MATCH members never anticipated any earth-shattering findings this early in the game. We DO believe, however, that we have many important and informative months ahead, with hopes of some scientific discoveries. With the better magnetometer in the B model, and many more devices in the field, some with ADT or alarms, the sky is literally the limit.
The final version of this report is pending.
