Subject: AF Confirms Object No Meteor and Unidentified
Cat: 9

A letter to the Air Defense Command was located in the Blue Book files. It states that the writer was referring to a UFO seen seen near the Nevada test site. It states that he was informed by a Lt. Col. Herbert Ralph that jets were scrambled. Later, the Nellis AFB spokesman stated (concerning the meteor explanation), "There's only one thing wrong with it. A meteor cannot be tracked on radar and this thing was." Louis Trifon, the source of the letter, asked the Air Force if the UFO had been destroyed by a nuclear weapon. The ADC forwarded his letter to the Secretary of the Air Force. Documentation concerning Lt. Col. Ralph's statement and the one by the Nellis AFB spokesman are being sought. The order of the documents below are according to their place in the BB files.
