reasons. I do not believe Hynek even considered the possibility that
a 32-minute event could be explained by a bolide. Lt. Col. Robert
Friend, Project Blue Book Chief:
5. The number of reports generated by the 18 April 1962
sighting, and the fact that the Air Force investigators came to a
negative conclusion regarding the UFO, they indicated it couldn''t have
been a meteor (Attachment #l), prompted further investigation by FTD.
This case was investigated by Lt Col Robert J. Friend, FTD, and Dr. J.
Allen Hynek, Air Force Consultant to the UFO program, on 7 May 1962.
This investigation was completed in one full day and it was concluded
that the object was a bolide. An attempt was made...
