objects on the nights of 16, 17, 18, and 24 November 1964, according

AN/SPS-49 Radar on Gyatt
Gyatt radar tracked in excess 3800 knots initial contact was made by USS Gyatt radar
attention of pilot called to object by

Lt. Comdr. K.H. Woodsbury, USN , VU-8, extensive flying and
jet experience ( 35)
pilot in F-8 working with Gyatt was at 35,000 feet when he
observed at high altitude
a very high speed object. After numerous changes of course,
object steadied down
abeam at 9 o'clock position 9 miles
and paralleled. Pilot selected afterburner and

Object accelerated at extremely high speed in 20 degree
climb and pulled away rapidly
object on Gyatt radar intermittently for 21 minutes. On
returning to base Roosevlt Roads
object again closed on F-8 astern
Atlantic Fleet Weapon Range had unidentified targets at high
altitude on November 16, 17 and 18.
This is not the only unidentified contact (36)
