Subject: Crescent moon during Mayher incident
To: A-Team

One of the questions that arose from the document search on the Mayher incident was a mention in one doc that the object had passed in front of the Moon. A later document illustrated this but the Moon phase was not correct, in technical terms.

The BB doc that mentions what was inferred in the sketch in question, was located.
and the line reads: "This object passed between the observer and the crescent moon and was considerably brighter than the moon in the background."
Later on in the document group
the drawing shows a crescent moon.

With a simple computer search I found that the Moon was visible at 9:30 PM at Miami, just as reported. It was half full. To some that might be considered a crescent moon. Of course, amateur astronomers like myself, would not. Is this a problem with Mayher's credibility? i really don't believe that it is.
