Subject: [SHG] Tulka, Oklahoma photograph, August 1965

Recently, Fran Ridge sent a message to this List commenting on the August 1965 Tulsa, Oklahoma photo. I have some remarks that I wish to share with you all.

The Tulsa photo seems to be a fake by 14-year-old Alan Smith. There is a Photo Analysis Report (#66-21) by the USAF Photo Analysis Division stating: “Photo processing personnel noted that the image bears a resemblance, although doesn´t appear identical, to the effect they have observed obtained by photographing a mult-colored revolving filter flood light of the type used to illuminate and color alluminum trees during the Christmas season”.

NICAP´s Ralph Rankow also concluded it fake.

William Spaulding reported it to be a good UFO photo.

Contemporarily, US engineer Larry Robinson writes: “I think this was a failed Christmas photo. The object is a color wheel for an aluminum Christmas tree...the object is not the subject of the photo, it is not centered in the frame, but is at one edge, I think a flashbulb failed. When the negatives were examined, the picture was between two Christmas pictures, this shows the photo was taken in December, not August.”

As for me, there are enough indications pointing to the fake of the case.

Best wishes,
