... Francis L. Ridge NICAP Site Coordinator January1, 2009
Greetings Fellow Enthusiasts,
The National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena (NICAP)
was formed in 1956, flourished through about 1970, and, as an
organization with field investigators and consultants, declined
gradually thereafter. For a more detailed story about NICAP please
check Richard Hall. This is an official, fully authorized, web site designed for
public information and media use. NICAP may no longer exist as an
active member organization, but its pages contain links to the
evidence, the very best evidence. The 15th of December, 1997, marked
the beginning of the site, which is peer-reviewed and constantly
updated by the NICAP's 18-member A-Team.. For more detailed information
check out the latest briefing.
One of the most valuable tools on the NICAP site are the UFO Chronologies. NICAP started these in 1964 with the release of Dick Hall's The UFO Evidence report. These covered sightings from prior 1947 on up to and including 1963. His Volume II The UFO Evidence (2001) covered 1964 on up to 1995. In the fall of 2005 we began a major update on these chronologies, releasing the comprehensive versions (with links to key cases) of 1947 through 1952 on the NICAP's site's 8th year anniversary on Dec. 15th. The 1952 chrono was 46 pages long . In 2006 we updated 17 chronos, from 1953 to 1969, 1969 being the last Project Blue Book year with official UFO cases. In January 2007 we established the goal to update the remaining chronos at a rate of one per month, beginning with 1970. The original, more limited chronos in Dick Hall's publications, ended with the year 1994. At the current rate we will be caught up with this project on March 15, 2010. Our plans for 2009 include: A major report on the findings regarding the Mantell Incident will be produced and delivered for printing by the Fund for UFO Researchsometime this year . Authorized, full-length free versions of classic UFO books are on this site. This includes my book, "Regional Encounters: The FC Files", which I published in 1994. Although the book is now out of print, it is also available onsite on CD-Rom. Be sure to visit the impressive sightings pages
at the NICAP Sighting Information Database.
Twenty-eight major sources are linked from there..
The NICAP site is the number one source of the best evidence
and
covers material from the dawn of the UFO age, over a half century ago.
