RADCAT is a revitalized special project now being conducted jointly by NICAP & Project 1947 with the help and cooperation of the original compiler of RADCAT, Martin Shough, to create a comprehensive listing of radar cases with detailed documentation from all previous catalogues, including UFOCAT and original RADCAT.

This radar case is listed in UFOCAT and mentions the source as Blue Book, but somehow escaped being logged in the NICAP DBase, probably because at least I wasn't aware of the report. It isn't listed in any of McDonald's case summaries that we have, but probably was mentioned in a number of his presentations. By June of 2010 we had BB documents. The pdf file for the docs was posted this date, Aug. 11, but Martin Shough is leaning toward some explanations for this one. The rating at this time must be considered very low. 3 - Possibly explainable, but with elements of strangeness

At 2000 hours (8:00 p.m.) events began with a visual sighting over the Pacific Ocean at 290 degrees and an elevation of 10 to 15 degrees. This continued for about 45 minutes. At 2045 hours the missile tracking radars were asked to go into search mode and look for the object being seen visually. The result was that many objects were quickly picked up and tracked on FPS-16 and TPQ-18 C-band tracking radars. The objects were tracked for approximately 2 hours at speeds from 0 to 80 knots. Beginning at 2310 hours three flights of fighters were dispatched to the area by the Air Defense Command to investigate, but they found nothing.
