object, viewing conditions, or
stereoscopic vision (depth perception)
may render the object in greater detail and
still qualify the sighting as a Close
Encounter even though the object may have been

| Fran Ridge: Oct. 4, 1974; Mt. Vernon, Indiana 8:45 p.m. AMUFON team of three was on a SKYWATCH patrol observing an IFO that had been reported all week. A commercial airliner, Delta 556 was the culprit. Twenty minutes after they observed the jet they noticed a lighted object in the west coming directly toward them. It was thought to be an emergency vehicle of some type because of the red lights on it, but none were flashing. But just before it would have passed over the team it made an abrupt turn and headed south down Hwy 69 towards Mt. Vernon, which was just a mile away. The team had a gut feeling something was wrong that night and was sure of it later the next day when they noticed the object had passed over a corn field as it approached - and there was no road there. |
