ANALYTICAL NOTES NMS Sightings from NUFORC & MUFON
MAY, 2024

It is my job each month to select potential sightings of interest from the NUFORC printout (National UFO Reporting Center). The number varies from 30-50 each month. This NMS list is then submitted to the MADAR Operations Officer, Fran Ridge. Although some MUFON entries might have been listed, it is the job of each MUFON state group under Project MATCH to provide MUFON listings of potential sightings of interest. Non MADAR Sightings (NMS) are entries where MADAR was NOT tripped, but the quality of the nearby sighting suggests that MADAR records be checked for significant spikes in the data.

Once I get the NMS list from the MADAR UFO Officer I go over each case narrative and select incidents that I feel a scientist or serious researcher would consider as good supporting, documented evidence of some type of advanced aerial vehicle. Using an FI-5 Procedure Guide or Case Evaluation Worksheet I obtain the latitude and longitude of the sighting and generate a registration dot on the MADAR Map to see where the nearest MADAR site is in relation to it. Based on the quality of the sighting and the location I then check the data logged on that MADAR site. This NMS shows the status of each case. NUFORC Sighting 181409, Occurred: 2024-05-06 16:30 Local, Reported: 2024-05-06 15:23 Pacific, Duration: ~10 seconds, No of observers: 1, Location: Goshen, CT, USA, Location details: Seen at CT Route 4 @ East Street North. The object was above Ivy Mountain Farm, on Hageman Shean Rd, Shape: Cylinder, Color: Black, Estimated Size: ~300 feet wide, Viewed From: Land, Direction from Viewer: The craft was approximately 330 degrees NNW from my location. Angle of Elevation: 15, Closest Distance: About half a mile from my location. Estimated Speed: 0, completely still. Observed while driving westbound on CT Route 4 at the intersection of East St North, black cylindrical-shaped object, completely still. I was driving westbound on Route 4 in Goshen, passing by where Route 4 intersects with East Street North, I looked over to my right out of my vehicle's front passenger-side window, when I observed an all-black, cylindrical-shaped object motionless in the sky. The object appeared to be hovering over the area of the Ivy Mountain Farm on Hageman Shean Road, in Goshen. I expected it to be a bird, and was expecting the object (what I assumed was a bird initially) to circle, or at the least fly away. This did not happen, the object remained completely still, in the sky, for more than 5 seconds as I was passing by. I did not observe any motion, such as the flapping of wings. The object appeared to be at a low altitude, however I can't provide a very accurate estimation of altitude. If I had to provide an estimate, I would say probably ~500 feet above ground level. My next guess was a drone, however, from the distance at which I spotted it, the object was too large to be a drone, even a large commercial model of drone. The object did not have any flashing lights either, and was a deep black color. I did not observe any rotors or mechanical parts. Weather conditions were fair, with good visibility. Cloud coverage was between scattered and overcast. The temperature was around 70 degrees Fahrenheit at the time of my sighting. I did not note, or visually observe wind speed or direction. Due to the fact that I was driving with the windows down, I did not hear any noises or sounds from the craft, and unfortunately because I was driving to an appointment, I wasn't able to stop and take any photographs. I returned through the area, the same route, on my way back about 45 minutes later, and the object was no longer there. I checked FlightRadar very briefly about 2 minutes after the sighting, and there were no known aircraft at that location matching the description.[IDFE]

NUFORC Sighting 181413, Occurred: 2024-05-06 21:25 Local, Reported: 2024-05-06 20:01 Pacific, Duration: About 20 Minutes, No of observers: 10, Location: Bradenton, FL, USA, Location details: All Over The Sky, Shape: Formation, Color: Blue Orbs, Viewed From: Land, Angle of Elevation: 45, Estimated Speed: Faster Than I Can Explain, Characteristics: Lights on object, Emitted beams, Changed Color, Electrical or magnetic effects, 100 blue orb formations white starlike orbs speeding across sky and speeding towards each other! My boyfriend called me and told me to run outside and look at the sky, I ran out and only caught the end, but there were at least 100 light blue orbs, in rows of two shooting across the sky with one very large blue orb following behind, and then they all slowly disappeared, row by row. And then a few minutes later a bunch of very dim starlight white orbs dancing at full speed across the entire sky, in every direction, some going right at each other like they were gonna collide, and then just disappear. And now the entire sky is pitch black, no stars in the sky at all, you can't even see the satellites. It's completely black now. I checked the pics and videos of the "Starlight Satellite" things and that's most definitely not what I saw! And my boyfriend and his family saw it from over 10 miles away, as well as my mom almost 25 miles away. And when we tried to video it we couldn't capture it on video whatsoever. [IDFE]

NUFORC Sighting 181488, Occurred: 2024-05-10 21:00 Local, Reported: 2024-05-12 22:42 Pacific, Duration: 40 seconds, No of observers: 2 - Aviation Expert, Location: Clewiston, FL, USA, Shape: Light, Color: white, Estimated Size: 25 feet, Viewed From: Land, Direction from Viewer: i was east it past me headed south, Angle of Elevation: 50, Closest Distance: 50 feet, Estimated Speed: 50 mph, Characteristics: Lights on object. We saw 2 extremely bright lights 50 feet off the ground going past us heading south. We were traveling east on rt 80 toward Clewiston, FL. At the same time we watched 2 of the brightest lights we've ever seen travel across the front of the car maybe 50 feet off the ground making no noise. One light went out as we watched it go about another mile or 2 over farm land. It was totally silent. It was the brightest light I've ever seen but it didn't illuminate anything around it which was crazy. The other light was about 25 feet away and we assumed there was a craft or something between it because the distance of the lights were fixed as it moved. As bright as the lights were it was total darkness around and you couldn’t make out any shape. The light didn't illuminate anything around it. I've worked in aviation and this was not an aircraft. It wasn't a drone or pair of drones or balloon. Im not sure what it was but I'm sure of those things. It was very close. [Sighting was 45 mi w of MADAR site 76 at Royal Palm Beach, but no spikes found]

NUFORC Sighting 181462, Occurred: 2024-05-11 01:38 Local, Reported: 2024-05-11 18:34, Pacific, Duration: 3 seconds, No of observers: 1, Location: Seattle, WA, USA, Location details: 7th floor balcony, Shape: Unknown, Estimated Size: Football field or larger, Viewed From: Land, Direction from Viewer: East, Angle of Elevation: 90, Closest Distance: 1000+ feet, Estimated Speed: 500+ mph, Characteristics: Lights on object. Triangular arrangement of lights flying swiftly and rotating - Four amber lights flying in unison and rotating, suggesting a large triangular craft. Three lights formed a triangle and one light was at center. This was not northern lights. There were also drones being flown over Seattle skyline and these were flying too fast to be drones. [IDFE]

NUFORC Sighting 181469, Occurred: 2024-05-12 00:01 Local, Reported: 2024-05-11 22:45, Pacific, Duration: 10 seconds, No of observers: 2, Location: Ellijay, Georgia, United States, Location details: Extremely secluded boat launch near carters lake dam, Shape: Orb, Color: Red, Estimated Size: Small 10-15 feet craft, being was short 5’, Viewed From: Land, Direction from Viewer: Not sure, Angle of Elevation: 14, Closest Distance: 300 yards to object 30 yards to creature, Estimated Speed: At first slow maybe 10 mph, then +500mph, Characteristics: Lights on object, Made a sound, Landed. Me and girlfriend in an extremely remote location, had a close encounter event! Girlfriend and I went to north Georgia on a short trip tonight to hopefully experience the Auroras an hour north of our home in canton Georgia. We took blankets, blow up mattress to lay under the stars and look for shooting stars and hoped to see the auroras again tonight from the solar storm. There was minimal cloud cover and no aurora lights were visible tonight. We were completely sober. We were both hearing what I thought was an opossum or raccoon in the leaf litter as we were under the covers on the air mattress making out. She was a bit scared but I being an experienced outdoorsman thought for sure it was just a small mammal making its way towards the lake from the wooded area behind our position. We heard the leaves crunch again turned towards the sound and both witnessed a small humanoid creature standing behind a tree watching us to which she yelled… OMG someone is watching us but when I aimed the flashlight almost simultaneously towards the trees we both realized this was no human. By the time I stood up and began positioning myself to run or fight the creature was gone and 2 red lights started hovering between the trees and out over the lake before disappearing. The entire encounter lasted less than 10 seconds and there is no earthly way possible someone could have covered that much distance to the point of the lights in that much time. Me and my girlfriend were completely rattled and beyond freaked out! I’m still trying to come to terms with what we witnessed and I wish it were just a perverted teen or short man but this things silloute was otherworldly and there were no other cars in the area at the time (this area is extremely remote). I’m still having cold chills from the experience when I visualize what I saw and I’m honestly scared to death to visit the area again. NUFORC Sighting 181495, Occurred: 2024-05-12 20:58 Local, Reported: 2024-05-13 13:25 Pacific, Duration: 30-60 seconds, No of observers: 4 - Aviation Expert, Location: Los Médanos, Baja California, Mexico, Location details: 31.10447, -114.93200, Shape: Cylinder, Color: Dark Black, Estimated Size: 500-1500 ft long by 100-200 ft tall (side view), Viewed From: Land, Direction from Viewer: 210-250 deg west from our location, Angle of Elevation: 3, Closest Distance: 15-30 miles, Estimated Speed: 500 mph ground speed, Characteristics: Aura or haze around object. We observed a very large (500-1500 ft long), dark, unlit, flying object flying below 10,000 ft down the Chico valley. Event date: 12 May 2024, Time: 8:58 PM local time, Location: 31.10447, -114.93200 (north of San Felipe, Baja California), Line of Bearing: 210-250 deg west from our location, Distance: 15-30 miles, Degree Elevation: 3.4 deg, Size: 500-1500 feet long, 100-200 feet tall, Altitude: ~8000ft, Speed: ~500 mph ground speed, moving at a constant rate to the south, Duration: 30-60 seconds. Object: We observed the side profile of a very large flying object, approx 150 ft tall by 1000 ft long, flying at ~8000 ft altitude above ground level at a constant speed of ~500 mph. We observed this from a range of ~15 miles flying at an elevation of ~3.4 degrees above the horizon. Distance was hard to judge, and these estimates are at an estimated range of 15 miles from our location. It is possible that it was much farther away over the pacific ocean at a range >100 miles, and the object would be much bigger in that case. Our view of the object was like looking across the side of a fairly flat shape. Could have been a saucer, flying wing, cigar, cylinder, or triangle, but we only saw it from the side. The font and rear were angled with clearly visible structure. It did not emit any light, however there was some strange blurring effect emanating from the perimeter outside of the structure that moved with it. The bottom and sides of the structure appeared to be very dark, maybe metallic, and reflecting the moonlight. The moonlit sky made it possible to see it as the object was really dark compared to the backlit night sky. It appeared that it was intentionally trying to blend in with the sky. We observed the object moving at a constant rate for 30-60 seconds before it disappeared. It appeared to be flying on our side of Mt. Diablo and heading down the Chico valley. Notes: We are living north of San Felipe, Baja California and watch the sky nightly. I noticed the object because it was black against a moonlight starry sky. It was low in the sky flying south, either on this side or the other side of Diablo mountain. It did not emit any light. It was a dark shadowy object that once your eyes adjusted to you could see the physical structure of a very large flying object. It looked like it was trying to be hidden. Very dark within the perimeter of the structure like it was camouflage against a black sky. The sky was bright with moonlight and it stood out as black. We watched the object fly silently to the south for 30-60 seconds before we lost sight of it. It either flew behind a mountain range, or otherwise made itself gone. We postulated that it could have landed in the Chico valley, or on the other side of Diablo, or just kept heading south. Its shape was like looking across the profile of a saucer, or cigar shaped object. It was very dark, but we could see the structure of the object in the moonlight. Could be a cylinder or saucer or triangle, but we only saw it from the side. The front and rear (based on direction of travel) were angled kind of like a stubby delorean shape. Within the perimeter of the object, it was very dark/black, but looked like it could be subtly shiny. At the perimeter it was clearly defined structure, then outside of the perimeter structure it got kind of blurry around it. Almost like a blurry cloudy buffer around it that moved with it. The object moved perfectly smoothly and silently at a constant altitude and rate of speed to the south. It appeared symmetrical from front to rear, which is why my initial thought was that we were looking cross sectionally across a saucer shape. We could not see it from another angle, so its entire shape was not possible to see. I worked for 13 years in aerospace on both manned and unmanned military and civilian aviation systems. I have a master’s degree in computer science and have worked across many aviation related engineering disciplines. The size, shape, and speed of this flying object makes me strongly believe that it was operating outside of our current understanding and principles of energy storage and propulsion. On a related note. I would not report this by itself because it is less definitive, but we have seen several instances of bright solid lights flying east from the pacific to the mainland mexico at high altitude. We saw it earlier in the evening and I checked ADSB Exchange and there was no air traffic in the area. Looked too low to be a satellite, and potentially a similar altitude to what we saw. These lights always follow the same path to the mainland in a totally straight line, which intersects the straight line flight path of the object we saw. Another note: we frequently watch the spacex launches from vandenberg. We can see stage separation and the first stage re-entry burn over the pacific from our home. That is a range >100 miles from our home, so we are familiar with seeing things in the sky at night. [No MADAR sites even close]

NUFORC Sighting 181539, Occurred: 2024-05-15 20:11 Local, Reported: 2024-05-15 19:48 Pacific, Duration: 5-10 seconds, No of observers: 2, Location: Buhl, ID, USA, Location details: It was floating my neighbor's house. I saw it from the road. Shape: Orb, Color: White, Estimated Size: I'd say 20 feet around, Viewed From: Land, Direction from Viewer: North East. Angle of Elevation: 15, Closest Distance: Just under a quarter mile, Estimated Speed: At least 150mph, Characteristics: Lights on object, Changed Color, Animals reacted. Driving home with a friend and saw it over my neighbor's house - I was driving home with my friend when we saw a floating white orb in the sky. It had four flashing rainbow lights that I could see. After a few seconds it flew off towards the canyon at incredible speeds and disappeared around a bend or butte. My neighbor's cows were all looking at it from a good distance and mooing. NUFORC Sighting 181524, Occurred: 2024-05-16 22:09 Local, Reported: 2024-05-17 12:25 Pacific, Duration: 5-6 Minutes, No of observers: 3, Location: Gerlach, NV, USA, Location details: 40.881696, -119.318177 appx 3950ft elevation, Shape: Triangle, Color: White/yellow-ish, Estimated Size: 200ft-300ft in length?, Viewed From: Land, Direction from Viewer: Directly overhead, Angle of Elevation: 90, Closest Distance: 2000ft-5000ft above us?, Estimated Speed: About the speed of a traditional aircraft, Characteristics: Lights on object, Emitted other objects, Made a sound, Aircraft nearby, Large triangular object with series of three bright lights and two dimmer lights appearing underneath the two bright lights at the rear. My visiting mother and I were having a conversation while standing on the south side of a travel trailer with limited view to the north. Suddenly we heard a high rpm or high frequency noice quickly dropping (with almost a thud sound) to a low rpm or low frequency hum directly above us. Looked up to see a large triangle of white/yellow-ish lights flying almost directly over us. We thought we could see a structure connecting the lights, but it was hard to see against the night sky. It didn't sound like a traditional jet or propelled engine, just a low frequency hum that seemed to be coming directly from the direction of the craft(s), leaving the impression it was flying at a fairly low altitude. Maybe a couple thousand to several thousand feet above us. The lights were arranged in a triangular pattern while above us, with a bright light at the front and two almost equally bright lights at the rear corners. As the craft(s) flew over us and towards the southwest, two additional smaller lights at the rear corners came into view, as if they were arranged directly underneath the two larger lights at the rear corners of the structure. As the object(s) traveled further away from us the lower the smaller lights appeared compared the larger lights at each rear corner. The lights never changed color or brightness, except with distance. Neither the largest light at the front, nor any other lights ever became obscured by what we thought was be the body of the object, leaving the impression is was possibly multiple aircrafts. But no additional anti-collision lights (red marker lights) or position lights (red and green wing lights) were ever seen. The object(s) never changed direction and flew in a straight line towards the southwest over Granite Peak, becoming dimmer with distance before eventually being obscured by the mountains. I knew the object(s) would be be difficult to photograph with my cell phone, but after calling my girlfriend outside to look at the craft(s) I realized it was definitely unlike any I've seen or heard in the sky, and I quickly captured five photos by hand with my Pixel 8 Pro. Four "normal" photos and one "night shot" (2-3 sec exposure) photo. Unfortunately, but unsurprisingly, they don't look any better than most UFO/UAP photos out there. But they give an idea of the shape of the structure/formation, which looks similar to other triangular sighting photos. The pictures were taken maybe 45-60 seconds after appearing overhead, at about 35-40 degrees above the horizon while flying almost directly away from us. With the Fallon Naval Air Station close by, I assumed it was possibly military aircraft flying in formation. But the sound was unlike anything I've heard from an aircraft before, maybe because of possible harmonics from multiple aircrafts? That, plus the lack any collision, position or marker lights made it unlike anything we've seen or heard in the sky before. *I was unable to upload the original photos and had to crop them in order to avoid an error while uploading them* *Pics [IDFE]

NUFORC Sighting 181563, Occurred: 2024-05-18 17:00 Local – Approximate, Reported: 2024- 05-18 23:27 Pacific, Duration: 2-3 minutes, No of observers: 3, Location: Tucson, AZ, USA, Location details: Saw in the air, changed directions multiple times before vanishing towards the east. Shape: Sphere, Color: Silver, Estimated Size: 8-10 feet in diameter, Viewed From: Land, Direction from Viewer: Upper edge of car windshield at first view, Angle of Elevation: 45, Closest Distance: 200-300 feet, Estimated Speed: 50 MPH est. increasing to very quickly, Characteristics: Lights on object. Large silver sphere flying slowly at 5pm in east Tucson, May 18, 2024. Today, May 18th, 2024 at around 5pm at the corner of Golf Links and Prudence in Tucson, AZ we saw a silver sphere moving north towards us before it turned and flew east about 30-40 seconds, then changed directions moving north for a few moments, then heading east. It passed over Golf Links and over our vehicle as it was heading north before it turned eastward, where it also increased in altitude and disappeared from sight. It seemed rather large and not far away at first, maybe 8- 10 feet in diameter at a guess and only about 150 feet above the ground, about 3x the height of the power lines. It reflected the light from the sun and seemed to have a bit of green and red colors to it, though that might have been a reflection of something on the ground below it, we are not sure. There was no obvious exhaust or thrust and no sound could be heard, though Golf Links is noisy. [Checking MADAR

NUFORC Sighting 181593, Occurred: 2024-05-21 23:59 Local, Reported: 2024-05-21 23:49 Pacific, Duration: brief, No of observers: 2, Location: Orlando, FL, USA, Location details: Parking lot, Shape: Chevron, Color: black, Estimated Size: 60 meters, Viewed From: Land, Direction from Viewer: W, Angle of Elevation: 55, Closest Distance: 2000ft, Estimated Speed: less than 200mph. My S/O and I looked into cloudless night sky together and saw a silent, slow, wide, & low 'V' outlined in moonlight moving in a line. My partner and I exited a car and walked alone together through a parking lot at midnight. The sky was cloudless, and the moon was full. I often look up at planes. They sort of terrify me, and that is where I will admit my only bias in this account. I do not think of UAP/UFOs ever. We looked up together and shortly started cursing quietly because he saw it too. I saw an outline of moonlight on the front of a black chevron shape against the sky. Four lines, the front, outlined, while the black was not. I was instantly creeped out. We watched it. I looked at him after seeing it continue to fly away from me slightly to my left and looked up again to see it. It was real. It was dead silent, huge, and flew as though it were weightless The lack of any cloud in the sky became eerie after seeing the stealthy thing glide across the sky. It moved more slowly than airplanes do, but it seemed so close. I told him we should keep walking and not speak about it because I was afraid. I would say it was the size of a car down the road from my perspective, but it had to have been at least 2000 feet above us. Disclaimer, I don't understand how to measure the distance of things in the sky, so I'm giving my unqualified estimate. We went and drew what we saw after and it matched. It ended up going past what I could see. In my partner's words, it did not obey physics, and I agree wholeheartedly. The only fathomable cause is a beam light being shone across the sky, which I have observed before on cloudy nights. But that doesn't explain the silhouette that I saw against the slight illumination in the sky from the moon. We have both observed a satellite launch by accident due to SpaceX being close, maybe two hours away. I know it was not any of the usual culprits for misidentified UFOs. Boeing is nearby but this thing was too quiet. In summary, we both looked into the sky and saw an incomprehensible flying object which didn't obey physics as we both understand it. I could see a moonlight outlined silhouette of a huge black jet/chevron shape as it slowly glided at a low altitude until it left my possible line of sight. [Checking madar

NUFORC Sighting 181600, Occurred: 2024-05-22 22:40 Local, Reported: 2024-05-22 20:35 Pacific, Duration: 2 minutes, No of observers: 1, Location: Alafaya, FL, USA, Location details: Driving east on McCulloch from N Orion BLVD, Shape: Cigar, Color: Yellow, Estimated Size: 40ft, Viewed From: Land, Direction from Viewer: SE, Angle of Elevation: 30, Closest Distance: 3500 feet, Estimated Speed: 0mph, Characteristics: Aura or haze around object. Bright yellow light, low in the sky, could see it was long as I got closer, it wasn’t moving. I was driving east on McCulloch Rd from N Orion BLVD towards my home. I noticed a yellow light through the tree line in front of me and to the right. I thought it might be the moon, but I was skeptical. Once, I got to a break in the tree line. I could see that it wasn’t the moon, but a bright round yellow light low in the sky. It wasn’t moving, and as I got closer, I could see that it wasn’t round, but long. I was coming around its side I suppose. I turned away from it into my complex and found the closest parking spot. I ran back to McCulloch where I could see it from my car, but it was nowhere to be found. It never moved while I was looking at it. I only saw 1 object. I’m a college student at UCF studying electrical engineering. [IDFE]

NUFORC Sighting 181624, Occurred: 2024-05-23 01:49 Local, Reported: 2024-05-24 01:56 Pacific, Duration: 1 minute 15 seconds, No of observers: 1, Location: Menomonie, WI, USA, Location details: lat: 44.78 N, 91.98 W; azimuth: 315 degrees, altitude: 50 degrees., Shape: Rectangle, Color: white lights, Viewed From: Land, Direction from Viewer: i was facing North. object in NW sky @ 50 degrees above horizon and 45 degrees west of due north. Angle of Elevation: 52, Characteristics: Lights on object. Long rectangular object with 4 rows/20 columns evenly spaced solid lights. Object not parallel but angled @ 20 degrees. Faded away. While driving motorcycle north a long rectangular object was observed in the NW sky. It was rotated at a 40 degree angle. There were 4 rows & 20 columns of white lights. Lights were not flickering, just solid and steady. Object did not move it just faded away after I viewed it for 1-1/2 minutes. I own my own business as a mechanic. [IDFE]

NUFORC Sighting 181639, Occurred: 2024-05-23 21:15 Local, Reported: 2024-05-24 17:07 Pacific, Duration: Two minutes, No of observers: 2, Location: Auberry, CA, USA, Location details: Personally owned cabin, seen from deck over meadow, Shape: Triangle, Color: White and red, Estimated Size: Hard to say, Viewed From: Land, Direction from Viewer: SE, Angle of Elevation: 45, Closest Distance: 1/4 mile, Estimated Speed: Very slow, incredibly fast, Characteristics: Lights on object, Aura or haze around object. Craft seen by two men on a cabin deck, no noise and a quick takeoff. My boyfriend and a client were on the deck of my cabin (I was unfortunately inside). They reported seeing a triangular craft that glowed white with a red light below. It made no noise and had no blinking lights, eliminating the possibility of it being a plane or helicopter. It moved slowly at first and then paused. The red light pivoted toward the deck and the craft then took off at a fast rate of speed straight up into the sky. No trail or residue. [IDFE]

It was 1 craft then it split in half. I was in the car with my family on clear sunny day and I looked out the window and looked up, and there it was a cigar shaped object. The left half of it was white and the right half of it was copper in color. It was rotating and I saw the sunlight glisten off of the entire object, which made me think that it was one craft. It then split in half down the middle, the copper side moved to the right and disappeared, the white side continued to rotate and then it just disappeared. That was the first UFO that I have ever seen, since then I have seen a few other crafts of various shapes and sizes. [IDFE].
