This report deals exclusively with bonified MADAR anomalies and documented Potential Sightings of Interest, those that we feel are representative of the UAP phenomena. There were a number of interesting sightings that either had too distant connections or had no obvious correlations-in-time to be used in this report. There were also cases that were not used because certain data couldn't be confirmed. So this is an effort to show accurate results, many times using Multi-Server Verification. This report will be subject to updating. Appropriate explanetory links are provided at the end of this summary. The current INVESTIGATION_STATUS database report showing all these cases and others can be accessed at any time. Finally, any terms used in this report you are not familiar with are explained at the end of this report. - Fran Ridge, MADAR Operations Center. Updated 29 May 2024 January 10, 2023; Cumming, Georgia 3:05 pm. EST. A witness driving home from work encountered an object described as a white, 40' long egg or "tic tac"-shaped craft, moving rapidly, flying as low as 2,000 feet, heading northwest across Georgia State Route 400. The skies were clear, with no clouds. Object had no wings, no exhaust, no lights, no trail and could not have been an airplane, helicopter, blimp, or hot air balloon. By the time the witness had grabbed his cell-phone to get a picture or video, it was too far away, then it was gone. Estimated time, about 45-seconds. (NUFORC). There were seven "code blues" in January but not until the 22nd. But something was going on as early as the 10th. The MADAR site 129 at Ball Ground showed a spike in the magnetometer reading at 20:06:18 UTC and Cumming is only 17 miles to the southeast. The magnetometer reading had increased suddenly from from 1.5 milligaus to 6.75 milligaus. There was no multi sensor verification, however, in that the compass heading change was below the MSV protocol of 3 degrees. Cumming is 20 miles northwest of the Lawrenceville MADAR site 92 which had a ramped up spike from 3 to 5.25 to 6.75 within a couple of minutes of the 45-second observation. No MSV on that one either. Object was heading northwest so witness driving to the northeast would have a target moving from Lawrenceville to near Ball Ground. The magnetometer spikes at both nodes within 37 miles of each other with the sighting area in-between indicate that anomalies were verified during a documented incident reported to NUFORC and subsequently investigated by MUFON on June 13, CMS 131598, listed as Unknown UAV. March 9, 2023; Colchester, Connecticut 6:30 pm EST.. While driving on route 2 headed towards Norwich, Connecticut a male insurance agent reported that he had observed two "humongous" triangular-shaped craft with lights under them. Each craft had two lights on the back and one in the front. They were moving very slowly, sometimes hovering, one behind the other. At one point he felt like stopping to record the observation with his cell phone, but instead he kept on driving. He made it clear that this Incident was very strange! When he first spotted them, he had the impression that maybe these were of military origin, but as he got closer, the craft were too big to be military. The shape of the craft were described as "not from here"! He couldn't believe what he was seeing. He also remarked that they were beautiful craft and was hoping someone could find out if there was any military flight that evening. It wasn't like any craft he'd ever seen. The sighting lasted about 3-5 minutes. There are six MADAR sites within 26 miles of the sighting area:Three of those sites are clustered very close together: Sites 106 at Newington, 300 (a field unit being tested at Newington), and 202 at Wetherfield.. * Site 106 had no significant spikes. However, the compass had swung slightly 2-3 minutes prior to the reported sighting time over 2 degrees, from 111 to 109 degrees. Node 300 had no spikes. These nodes had issues and were later returned for repair. But site 202 at Wetherfield just 22 miles NW of Colchester showed a good spike in the magnetometer reading one minute prior to the given sighting time. At 23:29:18 UTC the mag reading was 11.25 milligaus, the highest reading on the page. The compass heading had fluxuated almost 3 degrees in two minutes beginning at 23:28:18, 159 degrees to 160 to 162. * Site 139 at Wallingford, CT is SE of Colchester and just NW of site 209 at Northford, CT. Site 139 had a field spike one minute prior to the reported sighting time of 7.88 milligaus. * Groton, the submarine capital of the world, is 21 miles SE of Colchester. Site 220 showed spikes in its data 1-2 minutes prior to the reported sighting time or 23:30 CUT. The onboard compass heading was showing variations for 15 minutes, but especially one minute prior sighting time, almost 3 degrees. * Site 209 at Northford, CT provided significant readings and was 26 miles to the SE of Colchester. The magnetometer spikes began at 23:28:18 which was 6:28 pm, two minutes prior to the reported time of the visual sighting. This lasted about two minutes, beginning at 5.25 milligaus and increasing to 8.25 during the second minute. The compass heading had been running at 204 - 205 degrees but dipped to 202 during the peak. The data suggests the UAPs entered airspace near Northford two minutes before the sighting. The witness demonstrated the "escalation of hypothesis". He had tried other explanations before jumping to conclusions, then finally had to resort to a conclusion of "not from here". The former FI comment and conclusion that there "wasn't enough information to determine what was seen" was untenable. After 5 months of waiting, the witness had stuck to his original story as reported to NUFORC and filed a report with our Case Certification Officer. March 12, 2023; Oxnard, California 9:40-10:30 pm - Witness reported 4 objects came out of the west, over the ocean and headed to Oxnard. The objects did a circular motion over the town with the lead object breaking off and doing a circle of it's own and then it fell in the back of the formation. The objects disappeared over Point Mugu Naval base. Originally witness had walked to a Ross store before it closed to buy shoes. He had seen the 4 objects hovering over the ocean and watched them as he walked. He moved quickly in Ross, then returned outside and the objects were in the same position, about 1 to 2 miles out. As he continued to walk home, that's when the objects moved in and passed right over his head. He said the objects were clear, like snow globes with a rectangle inside of them. Each object had three clear white lights. One front, middle, and rear. The objects were the size of a small house, were 850 ft off the ground, made no noise, had no traditional collision lights, and no exhaust. Witness reported his sighting to NUFORC. Oxnard is on PST so the given sighting period estimate of 9:40 pm to 10:30 pm (2140-2230) converts to 5:40 UTC the following day of 3/13/23. The nearest MADAR site (57) is at Santa Barbara 38 miles to the NW. Allowing for a common one minute error and checking that node's logs there was a nice spike of 10.88 milligaus on the magnetometer for 5:38 UTC which is 9:38 pm which could suggest the objects entered the airspace 1-2 minutes prior to the sighting. The lowest readings on the spreadsheet were 1.12 at 5:36:18 UTC followed by 1.12 at 5:42:18. No high performance movements were reported during the sighting so it is inferred that at some point the objects entered the Oxnard airspace prior to 9:40 pm and would have exited probably near the 10:30 pm local time but no vertical ascent was reported. March 22, 2023; Royal Palm Beach, Florida At approximately 06:45 AM EST the witness was taking care of his neighbor's dog and went outside into the back yard that faces north. The Palm Beach International Airport is 10 miles to the east. The airlines traffic approach was over their neighborhood this day. Coming in from the west to east he quickly noticed a distant object that was a bright no- pulsating light which appeared to drop down out of the clouds to the northeast and travel northwest at a high rate of speed. At first, he thought it was a jet but then realized it had no white flashing taillight on it to the aft of the craft and no port or starboard wing lights. The bright light appeared to be round in shape. He could not observe any distinguishing details. The estimated distance was 4 to 6 miles from where he stood. He thought at first it went into the clouds, however it was below the clouds, and It accelerated at a high speed to the northwest. Then he assumed his eyes were playing tricks on him or it might have been a jet going in and out of the clouds headed away from him and he dismissed what he observed. No video or photos taken unfortunately. The witness in this case was a MADAR op! Around 8:30 AM the same day he was reviewing his incoming emails and discovered he had a MADAR alert at 6:49 AM Eastern Standard Time. The Zulu time was 10:48:46 UTC. There can easily be a time variance between timepieces of one minute. but the evidence confirms both times were synchronized. The data shows that 180 seconds prior to the full alert the one-minute magnetometer field readings had gone from 0.75 to 4.5 to 5.25 milligaus. When the mag reading jumped to 30.0 (the threshold for that site) the relay closed and the device when into full alert mode (code blue) of 60 records per minute for 4 seconds. Eight seconds later the compass heading changed from 170.65 degrees to 173.05. which is 2.4 degrees, just short of our 3-degree protocol. The MADAR device, which gathers data and reports it to the server runs at alert mode for an additional 180 seconds, and documents that for at least 12-seconds after the trigger the mag readings were spiking at 6.75 from 2.25. As per our protocol the Op completed our Form 97 right after the incident, then filed a report with MUFON. MUFON closed out the case at state level with a disposition of IFO, Natural Phenomena. Our independent MADAR investigation of the sighting and the data from site 76, are indicative of a correlation between a visual target observed for 6-seconds and a documented anomaly that was alert-mode rated (code blue) for at least 4-seconds, and anomaly-rated for over 3-minutes. Admittedly the sighting was very brief, however the object we feel must be listed as an unknown, UAP. Its trajectory, in and out of the clouds and at one point UNDER the clouds, and one point acceleration had been reported, lack of a trail, eliminates any kind of meteor or fireball, as attested by the witness himself. The sighting began with a non-pulsating light which appeared to drop down out of the clouds. It is our opinion that this is the trigger point and is documentary evidence that the object entered airspace at that time. March 26, 2023; Wilson, New York 9:28 PM EDT. The two witnesses were outdoors at the time. The primary witness reported a bright, silent object over the neighbor’s lawn at treetop level. It was shaped like a triangle, with what was described as an inverted triangle below it. She suggested the inverted triangle may have been a “reflection.” The size of the object was “equivalent to two basketballs", which indicates about 18 inches in diameter. The probe-like triangle dimmed and repositioned itself at the end of the witness' property, 600' from their location. Witness observed object through binoculars and reportedly could see three circular amber-white lights at 25-30 feet elevation. The second witness said the object appeared to be more like the shape of a cylinder with two rows of lights surrounded by a “vaporous” material. He took a photo with an android phone and later the the primary witness drew sketches as requested by the FI. They watched the the object for 5-6 minutes as it hovered over the water's edge. The report narrative we received from MUFON didn't mention how the object departed. The MATCH Coordinator told us the object had come from the West (wasn't mentioned in the narrative) and it's final direction was North, but it still doesn't tell us whether it vanished in the North or moved TO the North. Also, MUFON's policy is not to share the photo or sketches. (MUFON CMS 130084). A MADAR data check zeroed in on two nearby sites. Although no MADAR sites in the area had actually gone on a "code blue" alert, site 163 at Buffalo, New York, about 30 miles south of Wilson showed some erratic behavior which seemed at first to indicate that its local EMF was somewhat unstable, and as a result the device probably needed to be re-positioned a slight distance away from some obvious mundane local EM source. But nevertheless, the magnetometer showed spikes right at the time of the Wilson sighting for about 3 minutes. There was a 9.38 milligaus magnetometer reading the minute prior at 9:27 pm/01:27 UTC and a larger spike a minute AFTER the sighting time of 9:29 pm of 11.62 milligaus. The compass variation was the most erratic, but then it is also the most sensitive sensor onboard the unit which is why it is not used as a detector. It shows extreme compass swings for at least a half hour, and noticeable several minutes prior to the event. Node 41 is located 53 miles to the north across Lake Ontario at Ajax, Ontario, and data from the same time-frame shows a spike one minute later at 9:29 pm and a significant variation in the compass heading. If that's not enough, the Ajax site, which did not appear to have any issues, had a slight spike (1.02) in its gyro or accelerometer right at the time of the reported Wilson event. Niagara Falls Air Reserve and Canadian Coast Guard are within miles of the witnesses location so drones or other military technology cannot be ruled out, but, MADAR data from two separate sites suggest the object was a probelike UAP. Aircraft in the area at the times of the sightings are inconsistent with witnesses reports. There were several sightings reported that evening in New York but the MADAR events involved the Wilson, New York, 9:28 pm incident. The earlier sighting at 8:00 pm, case 130054 at Newfane, was an IFO. Two other cases at Ontario are in the CMS system but we have no idea what they pertain to, except they are CMS 129984 and 129978; 9:40 pm and 9:12 pm respectively. The 9:28 pm incident was declared a UAV, case number 130084. Buffalo MADAR site 163 had a lot of spikes that evening and there were multiple UAP reports received in the region. There was a 10.12 milligaus spike 8 minutes before the Wilson sighting which might indicate a parent ship (releasing probes) entering New York airspace. And 4 minutes after the sighting there was a hefty spike of 15.38 milligaus, and this could indicate a powered-up departure of the same mother ship. We appear to have MSV (multi-sensor verification) of this UAP event as well as other sightings which could indicate some type of multi-UAP operation in its own right. Last but not least, the spike in the Buffalo's gyro/accelerometer is very suspicious at 01:28:18 or 9:29 pm that evening. April 10, 2023; Howell, Michigan 11:00 PM EDT. About a minute prior to the sighting the "critters' in the woods became agitated and began running around. Being dark, the witness assumed that the animals were just active. Then the witness looked up in the sky and saw a triangular-shaped object, completely silent, come out of the west and then make almost a complete circle, disappearing over the houses to the northwest. At that time the witness realized the animals/critters had become silent. Duration 5-8 seconds. (nuforc) Thirty miles to the SE of Howell is Farmington Hills, the location of MADAR site 144. The date on the spreadsheet is 2023-04-11 due to the time conversion because the MADAR data was for the following day in Universal Time. At 2:53 UTC, 7-8 minutes before the sighting, node 144 had indications that something might have entered Michigan airspace near Farmington. The magnetometer readings showed spikes of 6 milligaus. If the sighting time was accurate at 11:00 pm, there were spikes documented 1-3 minutes earlier indicating something might have been causing the animal reactions. Even the gyro or accelerometer reading was showing 1.01. Multi-Sensor Verification was met with compass-heading changes from 181 degrees to 184 degrees during a 4-minute period from 2:57 UTC to the 3:00 UTC mentioned in the report. An investigation could have been very important, but in this case NUFORC said the witness was anonymous. CMS 131709 April 11, 2023; Lathrup Village, Michigan 3:00 pm EDT. The incident involved a couple and a friend on a beautiful spring day with a clear blue sunny sky with no wind or anything else unusual. The primary witness and his wife were chatting in their driveway when he suddenly noticed some sort of unknown black object just appear about 50 ft overhead. The object appeared out of thin air in total silence. It did not seem to have any sort of propulsion. The object or "enigma" was described as a 12 foot ring or circle, black in color. He was unable to identify what it was. It had a gigantic 12 foot wide spiral "corkscrew" device that was slowly rotating under the ring or circle. He immediately alerted his wife of what he was watching and she also witnessed the same strange enigma and they both just stared in awe as the weird object descended downward. As it was about to touch down, the object just vanished into thin air, In less than a second. It was truly an "out of this world experience,.beyond bizarre." There was a third witness, a friend of the couple, who had also observed the object and had even been listed on the MUFON interrogation form, but at the last minute decided not to report. Approximately 30 seconds. Source: MUFON. The time of the incident was given as 3:00 pm, which is not a specific time, but the MADAR site at Farmington Hills had some spikes at about that time. Farmington is about 8 miles west of Lathrup. Site 144 was logging data at the one-minute scan-rate rather than the one line per second "code blue" alert mode. Three minutes prior to 3:00 pm, or 2:57 pm, the spreadsheet documented a noticeable spike in the magnetometer of 7.88 milligaus right at 18:57:17 UTC. The reading decreased during the next minute to 0.38 then increased to 7.88 again before recording 2.62 right at the 3:00 pm line. The MADAR UTC is accurate but the reported incident time is an estimate, so the timing can be off 1-2 minutes. The two spikes are the only ones on the page which is interesting. The onboard compass heading change came close to the MSV or multi-sensor verification of at least 3 degrees, at 2.57 degrees. The threshold on 144 was set at 30 milligaus, so unable to go into full alert, the data-rate of one line per minute can only suggest the object entered Michigan airspace at 18:57 UTC and a minute is a long time. If triggered, 144 would have had one-second data points that better described what happened during the event rather than what looks like a departure at 18:59 UTC. Future MADARs hopefully will have a higher scan-rate 24/7. Case closed, UAV. CMS130562 May 6, 2023; Franklin, Indiana At 5:51 PM EDT. A witness filed a report with the National UFO Reporting Center on May 9th, stating that he had observed and photographed a disc shaped craft. The witness said the object started out like a "ship-looking thing", but then changed into a round craft. Witness had been mowing his yard, looked up and observed it, called his daughter outside and they watched it change shapes. Duration was 2 minutes. During the sighting a set of clear photos (2) was taken. Data is sketchy. (NUFORC). The sighting location is 25 miles south of two MADAR sites at Indianapolis, nodes 218 and 221. Site 218 didn't have any interesting data, but 221 showed some variations in both magnetometer readings and compass heading right at the alleged but specific sighting time, which was 21:51:18 UTC. The magnetometer reading fluxuated from 2.62 milligaus two minutes prior, to 9.38 one minute after the event. The compass heading change was more than 3 degrees for at least two minutes, from 106 degrees one minute prior to 107 to 103 one min after. There was no pre-authorization for contact information and NUFORC attempted to reach out to the witness, but was unsuccessful. The two photos are interesting and depict what the witness had reported, but no investigation could be made to document this case and obtain critical information to support the physical evidence. Case closed. September 9, 2023; Woodinville, WA 08:28 am PDT.The witness was located on NE 148th St. and reported a large cigar shaped object flying overhead. Object was white or reflective in the sun, had no visible control surfaces, no sound. The witness has an aviation background and can identify most civilian and military aircraft by shape and sound. He first observed the object directly above his head as he looked up while in a seated position, noticed the object at first glance. He thought it must be a plane as they were in the landing flight path for a regional airport. But he soon reaklized that he could not identify it because it had no control surfaces. Not quite sure what to make of it he waited until it had passed his position trying to listen for the sound of the jet engine. It was dead silent. Total observed time was about 20 seconds. He grabbed his phone to take a picture but it had passed out of view going to the NW. He opened his flight radar app immediately and there was nothing transponding anywhere near him on radar. (NUFORC) There are three MADAR sites NW of Woodenville. The nearest is only 4-5 miles at Kenmore node 47. Three to four miles further NW is Mountlake Terrace node 100. Edmonds is node 61, 11 miles from the sighting area in the NW. Node 47 has had issues with false alarms lately so it was not expected to show any data. But when node 100 was checked it did not have a code blue, but the data for the time of the incident was interesting. At 8:28 AM PST MADAR data being on UTC didn't show any spikes. But 5-9 minutes before the magnetometer displayed some hefty spikes in the field readings. At 15:18:19 the reading was 7.95 milligaus. At 15:19:19 it jumped to 17.9 and increased every minute to 21:57:19 at 15:23:19 before reverting back to 7.9. This suggests that the UAP entered the atmosphere 9 mins before being seen at Woodinville. The witness had said that the object was traveling NW so it would mean those sites had picked up the entry in the SE. The compass heading also varied more than 5 degrees prior to the sighting as well. Since node 61 was farther NW but only 11 miles from the sighting area I checked the numbers there. Nothing in the field data but the compass showed an almost 4-degree variation, from 179.17 degrees to 182.73 in the two minutes beginning at one minute prior to the beginning of the sighting.
