CMS NO.                                                                   114080 (preliminary investigation)
This worksheet is designed to assess the possibility of a correlation with a qualifying potential sighting of interest and a credited MADAR anomaly and involves working with the known sighting date and time in UTC and the immediate state, or sometimes the adjoining state. If that protocol is met, the sighting and node locations will be taken into consideration.

1. INITIAL SOURCE:

March 9, 2021; Ball Ground, Georgia
19:44 pm EST. Bright Cylinder about one foot (1x1) no sound or heat. Service Dog noticed it. Apple iPhone 11 unable to lock on target to take picture. Additional data reported to MADAR Operations Director: Node 129 op had let dog out, spotted a white orb about 20 feet above roof line. In view for about 20 sec, very bright then off.  Think turned network off, access points shut down. No noise, Iphone 11 was not able to take picture, would not lock on to light. Dog sensed something wrong.

2. NUFORC DATA CHECK:

A nuforc check for anything prior to or after the reported incident showed a somewhat similar sighting at Albany but with few details. The Marietta node had an anomaly over a week prior. Nothing close to the sighting data.

3. MUFON CMS CHECK:

A similar check was run for the MUFON CMS data and the only sighting listed was the Ball Ground event.

Sighting also investigated by Ralph Howard, Chief Investigator for the Georgia chapter of MUFON which completed the original incomplete investigation by MUFON which was lacking details due to communication errors.

4. SIGHTING SEARCH TOOL:

The Sighting Alert Search produced no anomalies by the MADAR Server for the 9th or 10th, no hits or false alarms. See spreadsheet data found.

5. PROXIMITY:

N/a

6. MADAR DATA:

A check of the data in the spreadsheets showed some spikes in field readings and compass heading changes.

7. COMMENTS:

March 9, 2021; Ball Ground, Georgia [IC-C2-60-cm-100-00-00-25]
19:44 pm EST. The witness had turned on the outside light to let his service dog out to "do his business" and the motion-activated ring camera came on showing a one minute clip of the dog reluctant to move out in the yard, then looking like it saw something. At the end of the clip light reflects off of the man's glasses twice, then the RC shuts down. Right at that point a very bright light (like an arc welder) from a  r
ectangular probe-like object about 12-15" wide and 6-8" vertically was observed by the witness, for about 20 seconds. Witness felt object had thickness and solidity and that the light “panel” was actually on a solid cylinder-shaped object. Although very bright, it didn’t hurt his eyes to look at it, which he found difficult to describe. The light also had a “moving-ripple-like effect” to it even before it moved, which he attributed to a reflection effect off of the stainless-steel chimney cap (which had a pattern of vent holes across it). When first seen, the object was stationary, but then began to move very slowly to the right (west). This took it briefly behind the chimney. The object was about 60-foot away and about 3 feet left of the chimney at first and about 50 feet up, or 20 feet higher than the roof. The witness' Apple iPhone 11 was unable to lock on the target to take a picture. This witness just happened to be the Operator of MADAR node129 at Ball Ground. At that time the site was not DAS-equipped (alert klaxon) but the node hadn't triggered anyway because it's shield or threshold was set at 25 milligaus and the magnetometer reading never got that high. However, the one-minute data lines showed some irregularities. The magnetometer had spiked and compass heading changed 5 degrees while the object was present. IC (Investigation Concluded): Unexplained.

Sighting was reported to MUFON and investigated. Ring camera video and and some stills of the chimney are provided in the following folder.
