FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MAY 2024
ISSUE
NEWEST MADAR SITES
CALIFORNIA - Christian Stepien, NUFORC's Technical Director
joins the ranks of those operating one of 10 MADARs in that
state. His node is 222 and is a back-up site for Santa Barbara
Canada - Our sixth site there is beding operated by Robert
Bourque at Victoria, BC, node 330.
OHIO - Cayden Martin is the new operator at Columbus with node
328. This makes 8 sites in Ohio.
VIRGINIA - Bill Ware moved his Morgantown, WV node 265 to
Portsmouth, VA as node 329. This makes 7 sites for that state.
The MADAR Network continues to
grow in the United States, and on into Australia,
Canada, Czechia, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan,
the Netherlands, Philippines, Switzerland, and the
United Kingdom. The MADAR Project currently has 174
sites running with 35 in various stages. Presently,
58, or 30% are now DAS-equipped, which means the
site teams can be alerted by an alarm system, go out
and gather more data with selected equipment. Very
soon anyone with a GMC-500 geiger counter will be
able to plug this device into their MADAR and have
readings logged right on their spreadsheets! And
more surprises are in the works. The project
has 278 members.
UPGRADE TO LEVEL II
If anyone wants to upgrade to a Level-II, all they have to do
is add a DAS (about $20) and/or the SMS, or find somebody
nearby who wants to "slide down the pole" when the action
starts. That's something I wouldn't pass up.
