Grnd Visual / Grnd Radar Track Object At 27,000'
Nov. 23, 1948
Fursten-Feldbruck, GERMANY

Dan Wilson:
November. 23, 1948; Fursten-Feldbruck, Germany (BBU)
At 10:20 p.m. local time, Captain Hugh Slater and Captain Darwin R. Addiz saw an object in the sky directly east of Fursten-Feldbruck at an unknown altitude. It looked like a reddish star and was moving in a southerly direction across Munich. The object then turned slightly to the SW and then to the SE. The speed of the object was estimated at 200 to 500 mph. Capt. Slater then called Base Operations and they notified Racecard DF Station (radar). The DF Station reported an unidentified object at 27,000 feet some 30 miles south of Munich. Later Racecard Station called Capt. Slater to report that the object was climbing and was then believed to be at 40,000 feet at 40 miles south of Munich and was circling. Both Captain Hugh Slater and Captain Darwin R. Addiz were F-80 jet pilots and considered as completely reliable observers and reporters.  (FOIA/Dan Wilson)
